Chinese scholarships for successful students in Laos

The Chinese government has awarded scholarships to 49 outstanding Lao
students and officials, who will now study at universities in China.

The Chinese ambassador hosted a reception at the Chinese Embassy to
congratulate the scholarship recipients on Friday night.

Chinese Ambassador to Laos, Mrs Bu Jianguo, said China has been
providing scholarships to Lao students over the years, to help realise
the potential of Lao youth and to hasten the process of socio-economic
development in Laos.

“The young people who take up these scholarships will also act as
bridges linking the two countries,” he said.

The scholarships support students for three to five years and cover
the cost of school fees, return airfares and an annual living
allowance.

The ambassador said students would spend one year studying Chinese
language and had to pass a Chinese proficiency test before applying
for admission to university.

Mr Jianguo said the different lifestyle and new teaching methods might
pose challenges for the students, but he believed they would all
succeed and prove to be good representatives of their country.

“To achieve success, you will need patience to overcome all the
obstacles you may face,” he said.

“You are young and intelligent, so I'm certain you will overcome the
various obstacles and will be able to solve any problems with the help
of your teachers and friends.”

Deputy Minister of Education and Sports Mr Lytou Bouapao said the
students were from various institutes or line ministries and had
proven their outstanding academic ability by taking difficult exams to
win the scholarships.

Mr Lytou urged the students to share in Chinese traditions and culture
in order to strengthen the ties between the two countries.

He thanked the Chinese government for the help they have given to Laos
in education and many other areas as well.

“The development of the skills and abilities of our people is of great
importance for our progress,” he said.

“I'm very pleased that every year the number and quality of students
at the university is increasing. It bodes well for Laos and China in
terms of increasing their cooperation in development.”

Mrs Bu Jianguo also advised students to learn about Chinese traditions
and culture, use the opportunity wisely and think about how they could
use the knowledge they learnt in China on their return to Laos.

Many Lao students will graduate from Chinese universities this year,
with more than 1,000 Lao students currently studying in China.

Some of the scholarship recipients will leave for China either this
month or in the beginning of September.

it´s not going to be EZ for those students. just study Chinese for a year and then go to Chinese university from there. sounds like they are sending those students for a suicide mission. i speak from experience having to learn English for four years in high school than went to the U. good thing i did not take the major that require lots of reading/writing. i went for math and computer which required minor reading/writing in English. most of it only depends on memorizing and not the English which was my weakest subject.

for those 49 students: hae fun and do not kill yourself.

NOW send another 49 of the Laos TOP students to study in AMERICA and see what the differences would be? I mean...if LAOS truly wanted to "ADVANCE" its social economic infrastructures, just don't send laotian students to only "COMMUNIST" countries like China and Vietnam.  In FACT, China and Vietnam have send more students studying in the USA than to other countries in the world.

So the question is...WILL LOAS sends her top students to study in America or are they (LPDR thugs) just all talks about "advancing" Laos?

Smart people will send their students to America, the idiots will send their sons and daughters to Vietnam, China, and Russia.  Education in Thailand is much better than those commie sponsored countries.  Just waste their times!!!

I am not sure "plenty" is the right word but there are many Lao students from Laos who are pursuing graduate degrees in the US. Some may have been sent by the government, some are here on their own, and some may have been here with help from relatives in the US. I personally know a few.

From what I know, most students who are sent by the Lao government to study in English speaking nations end up in Australia. I don't know the real reason, cheaper? closer to home? Australian government provides more scholarships to Laos? Who knows!

According to my knowledge, there are few people usually from rich families who can go to study in the West and Australia and other English speaking and/or developed nations by their own moneys.  Most other students are there on scholarships from the host countries, few people per year.

In fact, the Lao government doesn't have money to afford sending the Lao students to study in the West or any good universities around the world.  Money matters the most...

China and Vietnam seem to offer many scholarships for Lao students and various ministries' personnel in Lao every year, therefore, the Lao students do not have much choices...And, it is also cheaper to study there for not very well-to-do families' s children.

Now do you why I always said you're poor and your country is poor ? Your
country is poor because you're poor. Mentality is the poorest that you
and your country have. The poor is thrilled about having 50+. The reach
is not even thrilled about having 50000 or even half a million. This is
why I said you're as smart as a cow. Look around your neighboring
countries, say Siam, Vietnam. They average no less than 3000-4000 a
years of student coming to U.S. China is over ten thousand. I think it
was 12000 in the past five years. So you're thrilled at 49 to China or
50+ to U.S ? what a smart cow ass ! Sorry, I should be more patriotic
with everything in lao. What a smart Lao buffalo ass !

Dear Mr testicular nuts of aadgnaphor Thanouxay, Thaokhaymeeud, I maybe
an idiot to very small group of people in this planet Earth, but not
your group ! Thank you for showing us your pictures. I followed your
link and found it fit perfectly the profile I have on you. Now not only
that I know your thought, I also know your diet. It is hilarious to see
your posting of various food items. Is eating steak and pastas the treat
of your lifetime ? Thank you for not showing what happened after you
digested those foods. This is why I said you're poor; however, you want
the world to know how plentiful your life is so you bite your tongue to
have steak and pastas dinner and to make sure you have the pictures to
prove it.  Yes, you did. I believe that you really ate those. Happy now
? How pathetic your life is. I really feel sorry for you and your
communist friends especially you pictures a giant fried fish on your
lunch table, smiling and all that. Mr testicular nuts, thaokaymeud !
normal people don't do that, only the abnormal one. There are thousand
of millionaires in this world, yet no one know what they eat because
they don't want anyone to know. That's normal, but you're not. You are
poor, but pretend to be rich. Dumb as a rock, yet pretend to be smart.

As for your 59 lucky kids in your own word. They came to freeload the
U.S education system out of pure luck, do they ? Those lucky ones must
be the like of your body's children (aadgnaphor Thanouxay). I don't know
why their children are so blessed with lucks. The rest of the world came
to U.S out of ability to compete, not lucky.  Come to think of it, what
can your flagship Dongdaak University (AFU - Ass Forest University) can
produce ? only lucky kids !?
