It takes the US $100 to make a hand gronade, it takes the LPDR $500 to
clear one. It will only takes the Hmong $1 to clear. That is why
million has been given tothe LPDR and very little has been done.

When LPDR got injured and killed while fighting witht he Hmong Hmong,
they claimed they were injured from the US bomb. This is one why the
LPDR's way of blaming everything for the US bombs.

Hmong knows better and are better people to work with when cleaning
bombs..

fuck it and pardon my french there. it is hard to watch these videos
for they are about the misdeeds committed by both sides of the
conflicts: the CIA and the KGB with their respective puppets fighting
their ideology over the land that i love so much. it will take decades
and a lot of funding to clear these bombies.

to this day, i still say that we must hold the US accountable for
their bastardly misdeeds in the past.

TKM,

Once the clean cloth was stained with ink, it will hard to clean/get
back to its original color. Don't blame people, blame it on the red
and white princes who sold the country to. Now they were gone, but
their own citizens pay great prices. Not only bombs and grenades from
US but also land mines from Russia and China too.

A good young friend of mine, Channapa Khamvongsa is the founder and
project director of Legacies of War, http://www.legaciesofwar.org/.
You can get involved by connecting with this group. Since the
founding of this organization, Chan and her staff have done a lot at
the national and internal level to raise awareness about the history
and the casualties of this nightmare. Chanh is 10 years my junior,
maybe more. I am so proud of her.

You might want to check this out http://mcc.org/clusterbombs/bombies/
I had the full DVD and I had uploaded it to freedrive.com several
years ago and directed my friends to the link, but freedrive has since
deleted because interest had faded and people stopped downloading it.
It is a very well done documentary. Every Lao person, everyone for
that matter, should see this film.

As a Lao person, it made me very sad and mad that more Lao people
don't get involved and contact their reps to push for more funding to
eradicate the UXOs in Laos.

The US was the biggest perpetraitor of the these bombies and at the
same time, the US is doing the least to to eradicate these things.

I call these bomblets from the US "The gift that keeps on giving"
because people are losing lives and limbs in Laos every day from this
gift from uncle Sam.

The young, the old, the rural poor of Laos is still, 33 years after
the War, suffering silently. We must be their voice!

Thanks for sharing the videos, what a tragic story, there needs to be
more effort from the U.S. to dig out their bombs.

You are very welcome Lonewriter. I would appreciate you helping to
erg people in your community to write to their reps also. Please
include a little bit of this next time you are at a speaking function
or at a social gathering.

The budget for UXO disposal for last year was $12million, from what
I've read. So the US was paying about 10%($1,000,000), now they are
upping it to roughly 17%($2,300,000). A welcomed gesture I'm sure, but
I think there's more to be done. I'd like to see the US donating a few
bomb disposal suits like this one to the mine clearing group and maybe
pickup 60-80%($10,000,000) of the yearly tab.

GAZA . " U.S. to pledge $900 million for Gaza rebuild " .

Very good suggestion Paxasonlao. All of us should. I'm starting a
petition for more funding for the cleanup from the US.
