I am willing to bet that since the scrolls are hand done a high
quality digital photo of some stitching would also be unique. 10,000
or even 100,000 photos are not a lot for a computer search.

We just did it differently here. Bought a 600-pound fireproof gun safe
to store the three Torahs safely. It's too heavy to carry off, and has
both a high-security combination dial and a key lock that keeps the dial
from turning without the key. It set the congregation back just over a
thousand dollars, but I'm feeling a lot better about having insisted
that the synagogue board purchase it, along with having recently
upgraded the locks on the doors to double-cylinder deadbolts front and
back. Last week, someone threw a rock through the back door and tried
to get in.

One of my interests is security, especially in
cryptographic/technological areas. I'm known as "the paranoid network
guy" at work, even though networks are only a small portion of what I
do here. That I was able to see this - an application of one interest
to something seemingly disconnected - was a fascinating experience.
