Dear Friends,

How would you and your loved ones like to go on a three-day bike ride in
Israel in April 2010? (or sponsor a rider who will do this?)

We have this wonderful opportunity to experience Israel in its full spring
time beauty, and you will be contributing to help alleviate the unseen
effects of psychotrauma caused by years of war and terrorism.

Let me explain.

You've heard me talk about the Herzog Hospital Israel Center for the Treatment
of Psychotrauma (ICTP).

The ICTP has been developing and providing services and programs for
populations exposed to trauma in Israel and internationally since 1989.
The ICTP has become a world-recognized innovator in the research and treatment
of the widespread effects of trauma.

Now we have the chance to help by joining this 3- day bike- a -thon "Cycle
for Hope" and getting sponsors to support our ride. The cost for registration
is $500 (not including airfare) and each person commits to raising a minimum
of $2,000 (tax deductible) donations. (Also if you are not a cyclist, you
can help to sponsor someone who is ).

The monies raised through the Cycle for Hope bike- a -thon will go directly
to support three projects:

Parents' Place in Sderot: Understanding that strengthening parents is the
most effective way to help support their children, the ICTP created a center
that provides workshops in parenting skills, tools for coping with stress,
and much- needed support to parents in this war-torn area.

Peace of Mind- for our IDF soldiers: Many combat soldiers upon their release
from the army have developed symptoms which may include: sleep disorders,
flashbacks or abuse of alcohol or drugs. The ICTP has developed a unique
model of intensive week- long workshops to help these soldiers process their
experiences and build resilience.

Trauma Services for the Ethiopian Community: Some 28 % of Ethiopian Jews in
Israel have been diagnosed with PTSD. In addition, they have the highest rate
of suicide and homicide in Israel. The ICTP has spearheaded the creation of
trauma services for this community, training Amharic-speaking mental health
professionals in trauma treatment and resilience building and bringing these
services to the community throughout Israel.

While the physical scars of wars and terrorism are visible, those of trauma
are not and can last a lifetime if not treated. There is successful treatment
available.

Now let's ride or sponsor someone to help the ICTP.

Come, join us for the Cycle for Hope or support a rider and together we can
help heal those in pain.
