Perusing the incidents contained in CO 537/3855, and doing a search
for the word "bus", of which there are supposed to be 5 according to
the lying piece of shit who wrote the original article, one in fact
finds ONE:

9 JANUARY 1948 Lydda. 0730 hours, Jaffa. Near Jaffa Railway Station;
two 'buses conveying Arab railway employees to Lydda were fired upon
from automatic weapons from Jewish houses overlooking their station.
Hassan Hilu of Jaffa sustained a slight bullet wound in the leg, and
two other Arabs were slightly injured by glass splinters.

So we see yet again, HHW probing the bowels of the web to try to get
anything and everything he can on Jews, but being the procedural slob

Those who frequent here will know that recently I caught our poor H
yet again in a rather embarrassing episode. He posted an article of
Atzmon and chose the unfortunate subject for his post "Netanyahu
admitted today that Palestinians were indeed expelled." He was naive
enough to believe Netanyahu would say that arabs were expelled. What
kind of ignorant fool would believe that? Yet our poor H did just
that. I have posted numerous requests to him to own up to his naivete,
but our manly H cowers in his corner and refuses to acknowledge what
he knows to be true. He is ashamed of his gullibility, but is too
proud to admit he screwed up. Instead, in order to show what a "man"
he is, he defiantly posts more garbage by Atzmon, a proven liar. What
can one say about such a lack of character?

Haaretz reported today that the Israeli PM admitted in Washington that
he was committed to ‘two states living side by side’. However, he
stressed that the “the right of Palestinian refugees to return to the
homes from which they were expelled, would not be on the table.”

Any normal person reading this would assume that the words within the
quotes were Netanyahu's. Problem is, they weren't. Here's the original
Haaretz article:

"In his address, Netanyahu also appeared to resist U.S. pressure to
promote the two-state solution. He said he was committed to two states
living side by side, but stressed that the central issues - the right
of Palestinian refugees to return to the homes from which they were
expelled and certain territorial claims - would not be on the table."

As can be plainly seen, there is no quote of Netanyahu presented - we
have to trust the author of the article, Natasha Mozgovaya, that these
are his ideas and not hers. One is left to wonder, if these are in
fact his ideas, why weren't they supported with a quote? The answer is
pretty clear - Netanyahu never said any such thing.

When I presented Atzmon with this, he replied as follows to my email:

C. i do not have any reason to believe that this is the case"

What Atzmon is here trying to claim is that the quote marks quote
Haaretz, not Netanyahu. This is also a lie. First of all, if we
compare the second quotation from Atzmon's website, we see that it
does not match the Haaretz article - he omits "and certain other
territorial claims -". Well, at this stage one could attribute all of
the above to Atzmon being a terrible author. But here's the clincher,
from further in the same paragraph from Atzmon's site.

“They”, **continues** Netanyahu, “must abandon the fantasy of flooding
Israel with refugees, give up irredentist * claims to the Negev and
Galilee, and declare unequivocally that the conflict is finally over".
[asterisks mine]

Game, set, match. "Continues" can only mean that Atzmon wants us to
think the preceding quotes were Netanyahu's, not Haaretz's, so Atzmon
lied to me in his email. Of course, the original article does not use
the word "continues":

The Other Road Map

Back to answering my “on hiatus” email. This is in response to reader
A.H. who wanted to know “how can you possibly negotiate with the kind
of people who would do this to a civilian bus?”, with a link to
details of the suicide bombing of a Jerusalem bus in February 2004, in
which eight Israelis were killed.

Well, there are two answers to that. The utilitarian answer is that
you negotiate, even when people who do not support negotiations are
committing acts of murder, because if you stop negotiating on behalf
of the majority who want a political settlement every time there is an
act of terror, then you are effectively giving a veto over the entire
political process to the last uncooperative person or rejectionist
faction with a gun or a bomb. You negotiate as if there is no terror
and fight terror as if there were no negotiations, to borrow a phrase
from Yitzhak Rabin. If you believe in a negotiated settlement, then
stopping talks every time there is an act of violence is only shooting
yourself in the foot. If on the other hand you don’t really believe in
negotiations anyway, and the terror attacks are simply your pretext
for not engaging in them, then at least have the honesty to that admit
that you fear talking more than you fear terrorism, and that a little
bit of terror actually suits you just fine.

The metaphysical answer is that there is no such thing as a “kind of
people” that blow up busloads of civilians. If you claim that someone
who would attack a bus is intrinsically a different kind of humanity
from the rest of us, then you are simply making stuff up to avoid
having to confront the fact that people just like us might do
something so terrible, and having to ask yourself why that might be.

Palestinian terrorists do not attack civilian buses because they are a
different species to the rest of us, they attack civilians because
Israel enjoys overwhelming military superiority over them, and choose
buses in particular because buses are uniquely vulnerable: they are
numerous and therefore difficult to defend individually; they carry a
large number of people in a small enclosed space which maximizes
casualties; and they run on a published timetable, which makes them
easy to ambush. In short, Palestinian militants choose to attack
civilian buses for the same reasons that militants with a political
agenda target civilian buses in Sri Lanka, and in Iraq, and in
Colombia, and in Kosovo, and for the same reasons that Zionist
militants targetted Palestinian civilian buses in British Palestine,
which they did, by the way, with a regularity that makes Hamas et al
look like a bunch of slackers. (Click on map to enlarge)

So the Palestinian terrorists who attacked an Israeli civilian bus in
Jerusalem on 22 February 2004 are certainly murderers, but their
actions don’t show them to be a different “kind of people” to the rest
of us, any more than the attack on a Palestinian civilian bus

travelling from Haifa to Acre on 5 January 1948, proves that Zionist
terrorists are a different “kind of people” than the rest of us (1)…

So while it is undeniably terrible that the al-Aqsa Martyrs’ Brigades
would deliberately target civilian passengers on an Israeli bus, the
men who murdered Lior Azulai, Nathaniel Havshush, Bnayahu Jonathan
Zuckerman, Rahamiam Rami Duga, Yaffa Ben-Shimol, Ilan Avisedris,
Yehuda Haim and Yuval Ozana in that attack are not a different “kind
of people” from you or me or the soon-to-be-Israelis who unloaded
Ibrahim Mohammed Ahmed El Haj, Mahmoud Hassan Attieh, Saleh Mohammed
Suleiman, Abdul Fattah Hussein, Mahmoud Mustafa Khalil, Mohammed Ali
Eissa, and Hassan Mohammed Eissa from a Palestinian truck in February
1948, lined them up in an orange grove and murdered them:

10 FEBRUARY 1948 Lydda. 1700 hours, Petah Tiqvah. A party of twelve
Arabs from Et Tira village (Tulkarm Sub-District) returning in a truck
from selling cattle in the Petah Tiqvah area, was stopped by a large
number of Jews in a truck near 120 M.U. Royal Air Force Camp, Ras El
Ein. The Arabs were made to alight from their vehicle and were taken
into the nearby orange grove of Abu Lebban from which firing was
subsequently heard. Jews were then seen to leave the grove and enter
the truck which was driven away.
The following dead and wounded Arabs were taken to Jaffa Government
Hospital and the Royal Air Force Camp: Dead - Ibrahim Mohammed Ahmed
El Haj (20); Mahmoud Hassan Attieh (30); Saleh Mohammed Suleiman (18);
Abdul Fattah Hussein (37); Mahmoud Mustafa Khalil (42); Mohammed Ali
Eissa (48); Hassan Mohammed Eissa (42). Injured (believed seriously) -
Ahmed Ibrahim Abdulla (24); Lutfi Yassin Khal (25); Shehadi Abdul
Wahab (27); Mustafa Saleh Kassim (23); Ahmed Hassan Saleh (70). (2)

Similarly, missiles raining down on civilians in Sderot are no more an
ontological insight into the Palestinians who launch them than mortars
raining down on civilians in Haifa are a legitimate indicator of “kind
of people” Zionists are:

6 MARCH 1948 Jewish terrorists killed five Arabs and severely damaged
three buildings by firing three inch mortar shells into the Arab
business district in the harbour area of Haifa. The firing came from
Hadar HaCarmel, an all-Jewish business and residential section. (6)
And the terrorists who blew up the Taba Hilton last year no more did
it because of some defect in their character than the Haganah
terrorists who blew up the Semiramis Hotel:

5 JANUARY 1948 Haganah terrorists made a most barbarous attack at one
o'clock in the early morning of Monday, 5 January 1948, at the
Semiramis hotel in the Katamon section of Jerusalem, killing innocent
people and wounding many. The Jewish Agency terrorist forces blasted
the entrance to the hotel by a small bomb and then placed bombs in the
basement of the building. As a result of the explosions, the whole
building collapsed with its residents. As the terrorists withdrew,
they started shooting at the houses in the neighborhood.
Those killed were: Subhi El-Taher, Moslem; Mary Masoud, Christian;
Georgette Khoury, Christian; Abas Awad, Moslem; Nazira Lorenzo,
Christian; Mary Lorenzo, Christian; Mohammed Saleh Ahmed, Moslem;
Ashur Abed El Razik, Moslem; Ismail Abed El Aziz, Moslem; Ambeer
Lorenzo, Christian; Raof Lorenzo, Christian; Abu Suwan, Christian
family, seven members, husband, wife and five children. Beside those
killed, 16 more were wounded, among them women and children. (6)

And the members of Palestinian Islamic Jihad who killed five innocent
Israeli shoppers in an attack on a mall just last week committed a
terrible murder, but they’re not different in kind from the members of
the Irgun who committed a terrible murder in blowing up the shoppers
at Ramle Market:

18 FEBRUARY 1948 At 2:30 in the afternoon, an Irgun Z'vai Leumi
terrorist disguised as an Arab and riding a donkey, arrived at the
Ramleh vegetable market. The terrorist started to bargain for some
vegetables from a woman vendor, paid her the price and asked her to
look after his donkey and the basket on its back, while the terrorist
left, saying he was going to buy some meat from an adjacent market.
In less then ten minutes the mines and high explosives in the basket
exploded killing 12 and wounding 43 persons. Among the killed were
four children less then ten years of age and four less than fourteen.

The explosion was so terrible that it was impossible to identify more
than one of the victims. The Palestine Government official communique
describing this incident said that pieces of the heads, hands, legs
and internal parts of the dead were gathered from places two miles
away from the scene of the explosion. (6)

Blowing up a bus for political ends is a criminal act, not an
ontological insight into how Zionist Jews were in 1948 or how
Palestinian Muslims are in 2004. As awful as it is, this is simply how
sub-national groups – Zionists, Islamists or anyone else - fight an
unconventional war. It’s “a way people wage war when they don't have
F-16's or armored divisions”, as William Pfaff put it. You can only
claim otherwise by consigning all the inconvenient atrocities
committed by your own side down the memory hole. And the fact that
A.H. would pick a bus bombing as proof that Palestinians are a kind of
people you can't negotiate with – apparently totally unaware of the
popularity of that very tactic among Zionists in Mandate Palestine -
shows just how effectively we have done just that in the case of
Israel and the terrorist campaign that helped to establish it. (I
can't count how many times I have heard discussion of terrorism in
Mandate Palestine reduced to "Ah yes, the King David...).

I’m not dredging all this up as some kind of academic historical
exercise, or as an opportunity to say “yes but other people do it
too”. It matters that we remember what we would rather forget, because
it is only our deliberate forgetfulness over our own atrocities that
allows us to pretend that the I/P conflict is a zero sum game of good
versus evil, rather than a political conflict over land that is
capable of a compromise solution.

If we remember that “our” side committed terrorism, not because they
were morally defective, but as a tactic in support of political goals
in an unconventional war, then we will be able to appreciate that just
maybe the same is true of “their” side today. So get off your high
horse, A.H., admit that nobody has clean hands, and stop looking for
reasons not to negotiate.

On May 14th all the neighboring Arab states attacked Israel. In the
course of the subsequent months Israel managed to repulse those armies
but at a great cost. Over 6,000 Israelis were killed during the War of
Independence

The declaration of Independence led to the invasion of Israel by the
combined armed might of the neighboring Arab states. At that point
Israel had 30,000 troops with negligible armor or heavy equipments.
Its Air Force consisted of a few Piper Clubs. Later however the
picture changed but the Arabs were still held an overwhelming
advantage.

The Arabs converged from all sides. Lebanon seized Malkiyah border,
Syria attacked the area around the Sea of Galilee and advanced on
Kibbutz Degania, from where they had to however retreat. Iraq attacked
across River Jordan near Besian town but they too had to withdraw, and
take up defensive positions in Samaria.

The real threat was Egypt. One column headed for the Negev Desert
hoping to reach Jerusalem via the Hebron Hills. Another column
advanced along the coast towards Tel Aviv. For five tensed days the
army was held up by the brave defense of Kfar Kordechai. Next they
encountered but had to bypass Kibbutz Negba. Nevertheless Egyptian
armies marched up to present-day Ashdod and pause. On 29th May counter
offensive action by Israel put an end to Egyptian ambitions on Tel
Aviv.

The Arab Legion of Jordan, consisting of the cream of the Arab army
and commanded by experienced British officers, was another invading
force. Fortunately for Israel the Legion, with only 4,500 troops was
relatively small. It was hoped that secret negotiations between the
Jewish agency and the Hashamite King Abdullah would keep the Legion
out of the war. But in the end the King had to join so as not to make
his position in the Arab world untenable. On the day of declaration of
Israel’s Independence, the Legion captured Jewish settlements in the
Etzion Block located between Hebron and Bethlehem. The main prize
however was Jerusalem. On 28th May the outnumbered and less equipped
defenders surrendered the ancient Jewish quarters of the city. Western
Jerusalem was defended successfully although under a virtual siege.
Hunger, thirst and lack of arms plagued the citizens. The coastal road
had been blocked from the start of the war when the Legion had
occupied Latrun fortress, having taken it from the British.
Strategically situated Latrun overlooked the road to Jerusalem at the
point of its ascent into the hills from the plains. Control of Latrun
meant control of Jerusalem road. Starting from 25th May repeated
Israeli attempts to capture the fort failed. Fortunately an American
(member of the Volunteers from Overseas) Colonel David Marcus
discovered a narrow path to Jerusalem. Hastily widening it into a
crude road the Israelis were just in time to relieve the siege of
Jerusalem before effectuation of the first truce.

Mutual exhaustion led to cessation of fighting. It was mediated by
Swedish count Bernadette. Under the terms of the truce neither side
was to reinforce. But as expected soon both resumed hostilities.
During cease-fire a ship full of arms purchased by the Irgun arrived.
When Irgun wanted to retain some for its own use, Israel’s Prime
Minister Ben Gurion ordered forcible seizure of the ship. Civil war
was averted but ultimately the Israel Defense Force (IDF) became the
only legitimate arms bearing force in Israel.

Just before expiry of the truce Egyptian attack on Kibbutz Negba was
repulsed. Moreover the IDF made some gains in the Negev. Major
successes were the capture of Arab cities of Ramla and Lod in the
heart of the new nation as well as Nazareth and Galilee areas that
hitherto had been in Arab hands. Israel’s policy to wards the Arabs
till now was mixed but henceforth they were encouraged to be taken to
the Legion lines in trucks.

was driven in the lane and left there, and the driver was picked up by the
jeep driver who was waiting for him. As they drove away, the whole town was
rocked by a powerful explosion and many distant buildings were damaged by
the concussion. The welfare centre was demolished. Seventeen Arabs were
killed in this coldblooded murderous attack and 106 were wounded. Among

4 JANUARY 1948 Lydda. 1240 hours, Jaffa. The Old Serrai in Clock Tower
Square which houses the offices of the Arab National Committee, was
completely destroyed by an explosion which killed 15 and injured 98 persons.
Buildings nearby including Barclay's Bank, the Central Police Station and
several shops and houses were also extensively damaged. Full details of how
the attack was carried out are not yet available, but it is believed the
attackers arrived at the scene in two vehicles? a 3-ton truck laden with
orange boxes and a saloon car. Proceeding up Bustros Street towards Clock
Tower Square? the truck turned left into the narrow lane between Barclay's
Bank and the Old Serrai. The saloon car was seen to park some 20 metres
north of Central P.S. near the road leading to the port area. The truck was
parked at a point about 20 yards along the above mentioned lane. Two
persons, dressed as Arabs, were seen to alight from the truck and walk
across the square. They got into the waiting car which drove off in the
direction of the Ajami Quarter. Almost immediately following the departure
of the car, the explosion occurred. Tons of masonry from the Old Serrai
building completely blocked the land running beside it, A fire subsequently
broke out in Barclay's Bank but was extinguished. A strong-room situated in
the upper storey of the bank was blown in and a considerable amount of money
was salvaged and taken into police custody. The entire area was wired off to
facilitate salvage operations and to prevent looting. It is reported from
TeI Aviv that Irgun Z'vai Leumi have claimed responsibility for this
outrage. Tension has risen to a high pitch in Jaffa as a result of this

Abu Kebir area reported that a low-flying monoplane opened fire with

Mohammed Ibrahim Berbasi was admitted to the Dajani Hospital with a bullet
wound in the thigh which he stated was caused by fire from a low-flying
plane over Tel Arish. A later account described the 'plane as being light
grey or white with R.A.F. markings on both wings, and the letters 'VOL' and
some figures on the fuselage.

April – October 1936 – Palestine Arabs murdered 89 Jewish
Palestinians, and wounded more than 300.

""If one thing stands out clearly from the record of the Mandatory

The "list"is from the blog of one "Lawrence of Cyberia", who claims
his "source" as "via the Encyclopaedia of Palestine". This is wrong.
The actual source is a blog entitled the "Encyclopedia of the
Palestine Problem by Issa Nakhleh". Lawrence of Cyberia omits all Arab
names and substitutes "Palestinian" instead -- for the alleged
victims, anyway. But wherever Jews are alleged as the perps of attacks
on Arabs -- or the perps are given as "unknown persons" -- Lawrence
substitutes "Zionist terrorists".

Naturally, Lawrence omits the major terrorist attacks of January –
March 1948, because the perps were Palestine Arabs and the majority of
the dead victims were Jewish Palestinians.

If HHW had a point, obviously he would not have snipped the original
post away and would have replied just below that which he wanted to
refute. The incredible thing is that he thought he could get away with
it. Anyone reading above from Atzmon's site would be deceived into
thinking Netanyahu said the words in quotes. The proof of that is that
HHW himself thought Netanyahu said it, as proven by the header in his
original post, "Netanyahu admitted today that Palestinians were indeed
expelled"

Here is the part in question from Atzmon's site:

Haaretz reported today that the Israeli PM admitted in Washington that
he was committed to ‘two states living side by side’. However, he
stressed that the “the right of Palestinian refugees to return to the
homes from which they were expelled, would not be on the table.”

It is clear that if Atzmon hadn't wanted the reader to believe
Netanyahu said the words, he would not have put the quote marks in.
Read the sentences without the quote marks, and they accomplish
precisely what Atzmon claims he wanted. Not only that, look at where
he begins the quotes - had he included in his quote "he said he was
committed to two states living side by side", a direct quote from
Haaretz, there would be no confusion due to the use of the third
person. But Atzmon was very clever to choose precisely the place that
omitted this giveaway - again, the only reason can be to deceive. As
I mention above, the material within the quotes IS NOT EVEN A DIRECT
QUOTE FROM THE HAARETZ ARTICLE ANYWAY.

Bottom line is HHW is dishonest beyond any belief in that he snipped
away the entire post which he pretends to refute. He knew full well he

From what you snipped:

As can be plainly seen, there is no quote of Netanyahu presented - we
have to trust the author of the article, Natasha Mozgovaya, that these
are his ideas and not hers. One is left to wonder, if these are in
fact his ideas, why weren't they supported with a quote? The answer is
pretty clear - Netanyahu never said any such thing.

Game, set, match. "Continues" can only mean that Atzmon wants us to
think the preceding quotes were Netanyahu's, not Haaretz's, so Atzmon
lied to me in his email. Of course, the original article does not use
