and maybe just a couple of alterations to the dress code enabling
people to recognise other SCI contributors, but which won't cause a
big stir or raise comment. I was thinking maybe, orange polo neck
sweaters and joe ninety glasses. Peroxide hair is a possibility, but
might give the game away.
Fuck me. With eyes like that he should write some books and go on
healing tours. There must be zillions of rich people out there who
would pay him a fortune for one on one healing sessions. All he needs
is a crazy all encompassing theory ... something completely off the
wall that no one can prove or disprove. I am willing to be a
scriptwriter for him, seeing as I now have detailed knowledge of all
the fruitcake angles, popularly in use.
I will combine ancient cataclysms that were so terrible that they left
no trace and everyone has forgotten them, pop psycho-babble updated
for the 21st century (less Oedipus complex, more multiple intelligence
and multiple unprovable explanations for why you feel shite this
Monday morning but not mentioning the 6 pints of Abbot you had last
night), hippopotamus skeletons found under the Houses of Parliament,
lizard royal families (this one is actually so crazy it would put
people off so you would only hear about this one after paying extra),
ancient energy circuit diagrams discovered under Newgrange and Ankor
Wat (you know the kind of thing I mean; swirly stuff), Pyramids but
with a new twist; as mega healing structures erected by startling
technology imported from a dead healing civilisation that spanned the
galaxy but which are now extinct, ultra aromatherapy (where the less
something smells, the more powerful it is), hypnobiophotonics (no idea
what it is but who cares), and most importantly, lots of sex.
Bren: are you with me on this? We can split the dough and the broads,
50/50.
I am having something which I can only describe as a spiritual rapture
reading this! It is visionary on a scale that even Heino probably
never imagined. Not since I saw my first glimpse of Wilma Deering in
skin-tight white polyester in Buck Rodgers have I become so instantly
moist.
Truly the world needs this so much more that all that science shite I
keep reading about. They use all those big words that hurt my head and
cloud the issue like 'experiment' and 'evidence'. Balls to that I say,
it's like they have never heard of listing to your inner daemonion.
In preparation, the next time I get a serious disease, instead of
consulting some so-called 'Doctor' I will cover my entire body with
marmite and lie on a lay line. I'm not entirely sure what a lay line
is so I might just use the six yard box in the local playing field,
although they have somewhat frowned on that in the past.
And lots of sex sounds great, I love a good auction.

Flaming Pink Bavarian Flamingoes! I just searched ‘Heino’ on Spotify,
and found that more than SEVENTY albums are represented in which he is
either main artist or contributor, his work on ‘top 101 stimmungshits
der volkmusik’ and ‘Die Show’ being but two examples.
You have to admire his powerful commitment to the slow bossa nova beat
and the use of bells and harp and scraping a knitting needle across a
comb for rhythm, it’s a genius formula that has spanned the decades.
Hell, some of the ornamentation played on the glockenspiel
is unparalleled. In fact I can’t think of another artist that uses
glockenspiel in quite the same way. How do they get those effects?.
My heart is charged with energy and emotion whenever he cries ‘Viva
Mexico’ or ‘ich leibe Casablanca’.
I cannot imagine the incredible highs and excesses of those decades of
superstardom. Who knows how many little Heino’s may be found among the
villages and medium sized town from Baden to Bavaria, sired upon the
sturdy chorus vocalist ladies of every part of Germany.
For all his musical genius, the name of Heino will surely for ever be
associated with the very finest in German album cover design.
It’s an alliance between the musical and graphical arts that can
surely never ever be forgotten :-

I think the healing power of the Farmers' Journal is often vastly
underestimated.
And I am *not* walking into the Brazen Head in that rig-out.

Having bags under the eyes is one thing. Having several Bratwurst
sausages under them is another.

Ye gods! What a find! A vertiable goldmine! Take for example "Ich
würde alles tun für dich". Now I don't speak much German but it sounds
like the sort of thing I might be into. Where is Devlin when you need
his Teutonic Translation Tonsils? And on the album cover we see
him displaying some of his alien powers with some sort of a vulcan
mind-meld with a Bavarian MILF or maybe he is just absorbing her into
his body as some sort of ressurection/transformation process? -

It's amazing, when I think of him now I think of a full blown cult.

I think you'll find that's a Meatloaf cover. Or a title ripoff at the
very least.

Don't worry, Heino has it all covered. He has amazing insights into
all walks of life and for those with a more bucolic disposition he
present fashionable farming alternatives for both sexes -

Of course the men might have the slight drawback that someone might to
try and lay cutlery on your shirt but nothing says style quite like

Indeed. Far from being an emaciated, silicon-moulded crypto-alien with
the dress sense of a trans-sexual Turkish-Cypriot belly dancer on LSD
and an unhealthy fixation on dried flowers with one unheard-of LP from
the early seventies, he is IN FACT an emaciated, silicon moulded
crypto-alien with the dress sense of a trans-sexual Turkish-Cypriot
belly dancer on LSD and an unhealthy fixation on dried flowers with a
huge string of well loved albums, and a devoted following from
Kaiserslautem to Pfortzheim.

Exactly. Which is more than can be said for most of us.

I have heard that David Hasselhoff (from Baywatch) is a HUGE music
star in Germany, and it kind of puzzled me how this could be. But
after this intriguing cultural journey i'm beginning to understand.
There is surely no limit to what can take root in the soil that has
nurtured Heino.
ahh the rock star lifestyle. You can keep Keith Richards

And the inspiring artistic spin-offs that are picked up in different
creative genres !
So's Johnny Logan. Nuff said.
Speaking of which, I heard today that JL's "Hold me Tight" (or is it
"Hold me Close"?) is the new Boh's mating cry erm... I mean, anthem.
It puts You'll Never Walk Alone right in the shade.
Thomas, what excuse can you put forward?

I forgot the damning evidence.

Yes but it's fun prodding fun at the Germans. In fact, i think it's
nearly time i went and visited. It's not the kind of place that's
number one on most people's tourism list. But Berlin gets a great
press.
And now I want to visit this Bad Monstertruffle (or whatever it is)
that the immortal Heino calls his home. If i can find out why
Portuguese Socialist Party was founded there, that will be a bonus.
I will bring a cigarette lighter to wave around in the audience in
case there's any Euro-kitsch concerts happening.
It is a great city to visit!!!!
Public transport is a cinch (trains (2 or 3 kinds) trams and bus lines
everywhere and you can buy a ticket for a few days to use on all of
them).
It still has an oddball bohemian feel with large numbers of fossil
hippies and plenty of young alternative types.
You can see glimpses of the old east/west divide.
There are tons of museums.
I stayed in a short rent apartment/hotel which was comfortable and
spotless and central and cheap (aparthotel?).
I love going to Germany as a tourist.
I was recently chatting to someone who just came back from living
there for ten years or so.
Yes, it sounds like it is a happening place for boho artistry and
music and that kind of thing.
Apparently when it comes to museums and such like, you get two of
everything - a hangover from the division.
He said the city council (or whatever you call it) is completely bust,
so they are flogging of housing stock for ultra-cheap prices, but in
general it seems like rent is not insanely high, and accommodation is
comparatively easy to come by. He said it's a great place, but don't
underestimate the effects of the economic problems. Alas no shortage
of poverty, migrants coming over from the east, and some serious
problems with youth and gangs etc.
But the funny thing is, of course, that this is the kind of conditions
where art and music flourish. I think that's partly because of a sort
of buzz of malcontent that somehow powers the unofficial cultural
machine, and maybe just a practical thing - although the economic
headlines are officially bad, the city probably enables arty types and
musicians to get their hands on somewhere to live and space to use,
and therefore an opportunity to get on with it. Whereas in supposedly
'booming' places, you can't even afford a bedsit.
London, for example, had much more of a buzz in that kind of
way during the punk era of the seventies, when there was a lot of
squatting and illegal but entertaining musical/artistic events. Over
the last few years, London has been officially going through times of
economic prosperity (i'm talking pre-bust now). But that killed off a
lot of those 'alternative' things - everyone was busy working and
making money (which was of course absorbed by their crazy mortgages or
rent). To a big extent, i observed something similar in the Irish
boom. Somewhere like Galway in the late 80s and early 90s was second-
to-none for bohemianism and creativity. But going back there at the
height of the boom, it felt like a festival of credit cards. Half the
artistes had been priced out, the rest were working as kitchen porters
to stump of crazily inflated rent. Worst of all time itself was at a
premium. It was suddenly about yuppy-ism and a festival of consumerism
and conspicuous consumption, posh cars, pills and powders for a
meaningless ego-high, and crap like that. I wonder if the old times
are on the way back now?

You still in Munich?
I want you to know that I have continued tickling all the tegenarias
