Few anti-Islam trolls (or quite possibly only one with many identities) are targeting Newsgroups
Let take a closer look into the mind of the troll and how you can spot one in real life.
First a look into what anti-Islam troll aims for and why he does what he does???
- The first aim of a troll all trolls online is to get a response from a group of people
This is a clear sign that a troll doesn't have the kind of human contact he would like to have in his life and doesn't get the kind of attention he wants. People who he admires, or with whom he would like to be associated, is not accessible to him, don't really care about him or don't even notice him, because he doesn't have the characteristics required or in their opinion is "inferior" in their social ladder. He is afraid to go and talk to those people to gain the acceptance needed to get in the "in-crowd", so he chooses an easier way of attracting attention... trolling.
A few of the groups with who trolls would like to be associated or befriended, but sadly fail, are:
* Those of the opposite sex (very few trolls have girlfriends) * people who are socially popular (e.g. party animals and the "comedians" in a group)
* People with financial or educational success or otherwise a promising career
* People that are stronger, healthier, more intelligent or more beautiful than the troll or people in general
* Happy people (he wants to be happy, but hates them)
- The second aim of a troll is to offend people
A troll usually has an inferiority complex of some sort. Trolling for him is a way to feel powerful (often the only way). He has been offended and hurt at some point in his life and quite possibly is a victim of bullying at school or work and now that he gets to troll a group, it feels like a payback time for him. Many of the trolls are also bullies in real life and pick fights with those who can't or don't dare to defend themselves. To trolls trolling is just like
Stealing lollipop from an 8-year-old; i.e. easy and rewarding and one hell of a power trip. In real life it is quite rare for a troll to pick a fight with someone bigger than him and trolls rarely like challenges, are it intellectual or physical. Trolling on the internet gives them the opportunity to pick a fight with anybody without the fear of losing and being ridiculed by on-lookers. Trolling for a troll is a sure-win situation with no risks attached... or so he thinks.
- The third aim of a troll is to have fun and entertain himself
The real life of a troll is usually dull and he usually has too much time in his hands. In Real Life trolls are not funny or entertaining in any way or have a sense of humor that very few shares with them (usually only other trolls who are as stupid as the troll himself). This is why they don't have (m) any friends or anybody to have real fun with, or at least the kind of fun they'd like to have. They spend a lot of time with computers and for many the internet is the only way to communicate with other people outside their family or the circle of a few like-minded "friends". The humor of a troll is usually low-brow and childish and almost always sexually explicit (in their case always A sign of inexperience in sexual matters). Very seldom is a troll original or clever, which partly explains why they are so socially excluded.
- The fourth aim of a troll is to entertain others
When trolling, one gets to become the class-clown that one never was in real life. A troll hopes to get positive feedback from those with predisposition to similar disturbed behavior and similar sense of childish and stupid humor. Very rarely does a troll succeed in this, but when he does, it really makes his day and may give him energy to keep on trolling for months. A positive note from someone is as big a high for a troll as a negative one. If you want to get rid of a troll, do not respond!
- The fifth aim of a troll is to have people believe he is someone else
A troll is not happy with who he is (here's the inferiority complex again), so he tries to come up with different personalities and pretends to be them. The internet to a troll is like the mask in The Mask (you remember the Jim Carrey movie?). He can be whatever he wants to be or what he is, or believes to be, *really* inside. He gets to be Sick as fuck, rude as a cock and mean as a motherfucker! Pretty much every troll has many different personalities in one forum, so that people believe that there are many of them spelling their dung all over the place. The trolling personalities take many forms, but deep down they're all the same... sad, disturbed and pathetic. A troll also believes that a lot of people do what he does (learned it from other forums with one troll pretending to be many trolls) and thinks it is normal to entertain oneself with that sort of behavior. Of course, trolling is a perversion and should be treated as such! A troll usually attacks only one forum, sometimes two or maybe three, but very rarely more than that, because most trolls don't want to go through the effort of looking up more forums to fuck up or don't have the intellectual capability of keeping up with replies from more groups than just a few. The most twisted ones, aka the 100% trolls (see later in the post), who live for trolling 24/7, may take over more forums, but in these sad cases we're talking about someone who is, or who definitely should be, under some serious medication or locked up in a nut house.
Generally speaking these are the basic factors that motivate someone to become a troll. There surely are others too, but there is no need to go through them here. If the motivational factors are of more interest, do a web search with key words +"personality disorder" +anti-social +"sexual frustration" +"penis envy on males" +"problem Child" +bullying +"low IQ" +"mental retardation" +treatment and +"Oedipus complex". Basically any literature on the subject of personality disorders and schizophrenia is a good read for anyone interested in the personality traits of a troll.
So how do you spot a troll in real life then?
That's easy. If more than 5 points apply to a person in the following list of characteristics, and he owns a computer or has access to one regularly, he is likely to be a troll. The more there are points that apply, the more likely it is that he is a troll. If all apply, he is a troll with 100% certainty and quite possibly the 100% troll mentioned earlier:
The person:
- is male (very very few trolls are female)
- is a loner
- doesn't have hobbies
- looks "bland" (i.e. no personality) or is ugly as hell
- bullies (weaker) people
- has bad handwriting
- likes to torture animals (e.g. insects)
- picks fights with people who have no interest in fighting him or don't dare to fight him
- vandalizes public property
- Loves his mother more than is healthy
- Hates his father more than is healthy
- gives up easily on things that take effort or require responsibility (like relationships with real people)
- laughs at his own jokes (while no one else does)
- does not take part in intellectually challenging arguments or conversations with people who stand a chance in arguing with him, but does often so when he's by himself (!!!) or with someone who's thick enough and has no idea what he's talking about (i.e. another troll or his "only friend Bob")
- cannot behave himself even when someone "important" is around (much less when he's by himself)
- collects dead animals
- carries sharp objects "just in case"
- buries all his belongings in the backyard "just in case"
- Spies on women in showers
- masturbates in public
- In internet cafes or libraries with public internet access, he is the only one laughing at *something* by the computer... alone
- when he's not chatting or writing something on the computer, he's surfing hacker sites or reading out loud posts of other trolls (and the replies to them) or if he is one of the dumber ones, downloading porn ... and laughing out loud
- wears a t-shirt with something "witty" (in his opinion) printed on the front like "I'm the one your mother warned you about" or "No one knows I'm a lesbian" or just a simple "Fuck You!" (Please note that a Mad Magazine t-shirt is a sure sign of one being a troll and a retard as well!)

After the Palestinians reported the four deaths, the army said two men armed with an anti-tank missile had been spotted on the balcony of a house ready to fire at forces operating in the northern Gaza Strip.
"The force responded with tank fire and identified hitting them. One of them is a Hamas terrorist," a spokeswoman said, accusing Palestinian "terrorists" of operating from within the civilian population.

Ground troops on Friday were operating in southern Gaza and the Karni area, east of Gaza City, looking for tunnels and explosives, having withdrawn overnight from the Maghazi refugee camp after a bloody two-day incursion.
A local official from UNRWA, the UN agency for Palestinian refugees, said 16 hectares (40 acres) of fields, mostly olive groves, were ravaged in the operation and that around 10 homes had been damaged by tanks and bulldozers.
"It's like a tsunami. Eight dunums (0.8 hectares) of olive trees belonging to me have been destroyed," said local resident Abdelrahim Said.

A second front in Lebanon, where the Israeli military is battling Hezbollah guerrillas, who captured another two servicemen on July 12, has killed at least 330 Lebanese and 33 Israelis.
That's a death toll of 10 to 1 in Lebanon and 100 to 1 in Palestine. Yet, Israelis insist that they're justified.

Days after deadly anti-government protests on Ashura, millions of demonstrators gathered across Iran on Wednesday to condemn what they described as defiling the religious ceremony of Ashura.
In the Iranian capital and many other cities millions of people took to the streets in a show of strength and solidarity against anti-government protesters.
The rallies came after protesters took to some central and downtown streets in Tehran on Sunday, hijacking the Ashura ceremonies, during which people commemorate the 7th century death of the Prophet Muhammad's (PBUH) grandson, Imam Hussein (PBUH).
The protesters reportedly chanted slogans against top Iranian government officials and vandalized public property. Iranian police forces used tear gas to disperse protesters.
Seven people were confirmed dead during the unrest. Confirming the deaths, Iran's Deputy Police Chief Ahmad-Reza Radan said the force did not use violence against protesters, denying any involvement in the killings.
In line with Wednesday's demonstrations, Iran's Islamic Propagation Coordination Council issued a statement, condemning the anti-government protests on Ashura.
"A limited number of anti-[Islamic] Revolution trouble-seekers, who are against the Iranian nation's security, progress, honor and glory, sought to target the most sacred values of Islam in some streets of Tehran under the leadership of foreign media and with the support of certain domineering powers," read the statement.
The statement criticized the country's Judiciary, Intelligence Ministry and security officials for showing tolerance toward anti-government protesters, calling on Iran's Judiciary to identify those behind the unrest.
"We warn certain political movements and individuals, who after their defeat in the [presidential] election and being faced with a big 'no' from the nation, instead of adhering to the law and the majority vote, staged a vote fraud charade and laid the ground for sacrilege, desecration and counter-revolutionary acts," it added.
The statement also expressed "appreciation for the efforts made by the national broadcaster (the Islamic Republic of Iran Broadcasting) in bravely uncovering the sedition movement and the role played by Western media and intelligence services in instigating the unrest.""We call on all responsible government organizations to identify those behind the defiling [of religious values] and seek severe penalties against them," read the statement.

The Taliban suicide attack that killed a group of CIA agents in Afghanistan on a base that was directing US drone aircraft used to attack Taliban leaders was big news in the US over the past week, with the airwaves and front pages filled with sympathetic stories referring to the fact that the female station chief, who was among those killed, was the "mother of three children."
But the apparent mass murder of Afghan school children, including one as young as 11 years old, by US-led forces (most likely either special forces or mercenary contractors working for the Pentagon or the CIA), was pretty much blacked out in the American media. Especially blacked out was word from UN investigators that the students had not just been killed but executed, many of them after having first been rousted from their bedroom and handcuffed.
Here is the excellent report on the incident that ran in the Times of London (like Fox News, a Rupert Murdoch-owned publication) on Dec. 31:
Western troops accused of executing 10 Afghan civilians, including children

American-led troops were accused yesterday of dragging innocent children from their beds and shooting them during a night raid that left ten people dead.
Afghan government investigators said that eight schoolchildren were killed, all but one of them from the same family. Locals said that some victims were handcuffed before being killed.
Western military sources said that the dead were all part of an Afghan terrorist cell responsible for manufacturing improvised explosive devices (IEDs), which have claimed the lives of countless soldiers and civilians.
"This was a joint operation that was conducted against an IED cell that Afghan and US officials had been developing information against for some time," said a senior Nato insider. But he admitted that "the facts about what actually went down are in dispute".
The article goes on to say:
In a telephone interview last night, the headmaster [of the local school] said that the victims were asleep in three rooms when the troops arrived. "Seven students were in one room," said Rahman Jan Ehsas. "A student and one guest were in another room, a guest room, and a farmer was asleep with his wife in a third building.
"First the foreign troops entered the guest room and shot two of them. Then they entered another room and handcuffed the seven students. Then they killed them. Abdul Khaliq [the farmer] heard shooting and came outside. When they saw him they shot him as well. He was outside. That’s why his wife wasn’t killed."
A local elder, Jan Mohammed, said that three boys were killed in one room and five were handcuffed before they were shot. "I saw their school books covered in blood," he said.
The investigation found that eight of the victims were aged from 11 to 17. The guest was a shepherd boy, 12, called Samar Gul, the headmaster said. He said that six of the students were at high school and two were at primary school. He said that all the students were his nephews.
Compare this article to the one mention of the incident which appeared in the New York Times, one of the few American news outlets to even mention the incident. The Times, on Dec. 28, focusing entirely on the difficulty civilian killings cause for the US war effort, and not on the allegation of a serious war crime having been committed, wrote:

KABUL, Afghanistan — The killing of at least nine men in a remote valley of eastern Afghanistan by a joint operation of Afghan and American forces put President Hamid Karzai and senior NATO officials at odds on Monday over whether those killed had been civilians or Taliban insurgents.
In a statement e-mailed to the news media, Mr. Karzai condemned the weekend attack and said the dead had been civilians, eight of them schoolboys. He called for an investigation.
Local officials, including the governor and members of Parliament from Kunar Province, where the deaths occurred, confirmed the reports. But the Kunar police chief, Khalilullah Ziayee, cautioned that his office was still investigating the killings and that outstanding questions remained, including why the eight young men had been in the same house at the time.
"There are still questions to be answered, like why these students were together and what they were doing on that night," Mr. Ziayee said.
A senior NATO official with knowledge of the operation said that the raid had been carried out by a joint Afghan-American force and that its target was a group of men who were known Taliban members and smugglers of homemade bombs, which the American and NATO forces call improvised explosive devices, or I.E.D.’s.
According to the NATO official, nine men were killed. "These were people who had a well-established network, they were I.E.D. smugglers and also were responsible for direct attacks on Afghan security and coalition forces in those areas," said the official, who spoke on the condition of anonymity because of the delicacy of the issue.
"When the raid took place they were armed and had material for making I.E.D.’s," the official added.
While the article in the New York Times eventually mentions the allegation that the victims were children, not "men," it nonetheless begins with the unchallenged assertion in the lead that they were "men." There is no mention of the equally serious allegation that the victims had been handcuffed before being executed, and the story leaves the impression, made by NATO sources, that they were armed and had died fighting. There is no indication in the Times story that the reporters made any effort, as the more enterprising and skeptical London Times reporter did, to get local, non-official, sources of information. Moreover, the information claiming that the victims had been making bombs was attributed by Rubin and Wafa, with no objections from their editors in New York, to an anonymous NATO source, though there was no legitimate reason for the anonymity ("because of the delicacy of the situation" was the lame excuse offered)--indeed the use of an anonymous source here would appear to violate the Times’ own standards.
It’s not that in American newsrooms there was no knowledge that a major war crime may have been committed. Nearly all American news organizations receive the AP newswire. Here is the AP report on the killings, which ran under the headline "UN says killed Afghans were students":
The United Nations says a raid last weekend by foreign troops in a tense eastern Afghan province killed eight local students.
The Afghan government says that all 10 people killed in a village in Kunar province were civilians. NATO says there is no evidence to substantiate the claim and has requested a joint investigation.
UN special representative in Afghanistan Kai Eide said in a statement Thursday that preliminary investigation shows there were insurgents in the area at the time of the attack. But he adds that eight of those killed were students in local schools.
Once again, the American media are falling down shamefully in providing honest reporting on a war, making it difficult for the American people to make informed judgements about what is being done in their name.
Let’s be clear here. If the charges are correct, that American forces, or American-led forces, are handcuffing their victims and then executing them, then they are committing egregious war crimes. If they are killing children, they are committing equally egregious war crimes. If they are handcuffing and executing children, the atrocity is beyond horrific. This incident, if true, would actually be worse than the infamous war crime that occurred in My Lai during the Vietnam War. In that case, we had ordinary soldiers in the field, acting under the orders of several low-ranking officers in the heat of an operation, shooting and killing women, children and babies. But in this case we appear to have seasoned special forces troops actually directing the taking captives, cuffing them, herding them into a room, and spraying them with bullets, execution style.
Given the history of the commanding general in Afghanistan, General Stanley McChrystal, who is known to have run a massive death squad operation in Iraq before being named to his current post by President Obama, and who is known to have called for the same kind of tactics in Afghanistan, it should not be surprising that the US would now be committing atrocities in Afghanistan. If this is how this war is going to be conducted, though, the US media should be making a major effort to uncover and expose the crime.
On January 1, the London Times’ Starkey, in Afghanistan, followed up with a second story, reporting that Afghan President Hamid Karzai is calling for the US to hand over the people who killed the students. He also quoted a "NATO source" as saying that the "foreigners involved" in the incident were "non-military, suggesting that they were part of a secret paramilitary unit based in the capital" of Kabul. Starkey also quotes a "Western official" as saying: "There’s no doubt that there were insurgents there, and there may well have been an insurgent leader in the house, but that doesn’t justify executing eight children who were all enrolled in local schools."
Good enterprise reporting by the London Times and its Kabul-based correspondent. Silence on these developments in the US media.
Meanwhile, it has been a week now since the New York Times reporters Rubin and Wafa made their first flawed and embarrassingly one-sided report on the incident, and there has been not a word since then about it in the paper. Are Rubin and Wafa or other Times reporters on the story? Will there be a follow-up?
On the evidence of past coverage of these US wars and their ongoing atrocities by the Times and by other major US corporate media news organizations, don’t bet on it. You’ll do better looking to the foreign media for real information about a story like this.
By the way, given that we’re talking the allegation of a serious war crime here, it is important to note that, under the Geneva Conventions, it is a legal requirement that the US military chain of command immediately initiate an official investigation to determine whether such a crime has occurred, and if so, to establish who was responsible and bring them to justice. One would hope that the commander in chief, President Obama, would order such an inquiry.
Any effort to prevent such an inquiry, or to cover up a war crime, would be a war crime in itself. We just had one administration that did a lot of that. We don’t need another one.
Editorial Comment:
As a teenager, I spent a year going to school in Darmstadt, in what was then West Germany. I used to have many discussions with German friends about how Germans could have allowed Nazism to happen, and how anyone could have allowed the kinds of atrocities which we Americans learned that German soldiers had committed during the war--the destroying of entire towns when one partisan fired on a German soldier, the killing of prisoners of war, etc. Of course we know now that Americans too committed equally heinous war crimes, culminating in the use of the two atomic bombs against civilian targets, not to mention the firebombing of Darmstadt itself by the Brits. But the larger point at the time was, how could Germans, who are decent people for the most part, have allowed the horror of Nazism to happen?
Now we are confronted yet again with an example of American military forces (and it matters not a whit whether they are uniformed regular soldiers or paid mercenaries who executed those Afghan kids) apparently committing exactly the type of atrocity for which the German Waffen SS was known. And whether or not the charges are true, there is enough evidence at this point, with the special UN representative in Afghanistan saying it happened, for us to believe it probably did happen. Yet there has not been one editorial in the US media calling for an open investigation into this alleged atrocity. No Americans are marching in the street demanding answers. Obama, whose daughter Malia is 11--the same age as the youngest of the slain boys--has not said a word, although Afghan students are demonstrating en masse, and burning him in effigy because of this latest outrage.
So what makes us Americans any better than the Germans of 1940? In a way, we are really worse. It would have taken considerable courage, as my German friends have pointed out, to take a stand against German atrocities in 1940, when such a stand could mean arrest, imprisonment and even execution, even execution of one's family. No such risks are faced by Americans who take a stand against American atrocities. Here one faces, at most, social ostracism or a minor citation for arrest at a protest.
We are, as a nation, only as good as our worst behavior and our worst impulses, and can be judged by how we respond to them when they are manifested in our name. And right now, Americans aren't looking very good at all.

New "terrorism" laws have been recently pushed through Parliament.

The definition of 'terrorism', includes actions made 'with the intention of

logging in forests and similar activities. The demonstrators who pushed over
a fence at the refugee detention centre at Woomera would be defined as
'terrorists'...

Militants are regaining control of Marjah, residents have reported, less
than a month after Western military officials claimed to have seized the
Afghan town from the Taliban.
Marjah is now home to an occupation force numbering more than one Nato
soldier or Afghan police officer for every eight residents.
But militants are stepping up an underground campaign against officials
loyal to the Western-backed Karzai regime.
Walid Jan Sabir, who represents Marjah and the surrounding Nad Ali District
in the Afghan parliament, said that he had heard reports from Marjah elders
visiting his office in Kabul this week of two beheadings of pro-government
elders, both members of the government's Community Development Council.
And a tribal elder living in Marjah said that, after dark, "it is like the
kingdom of the Taliban - the government and foreign forces cannot defend
anyone even one kilometre from their bases."
New governor of Marjah Haji Abdul Zahir acknowledged that guerillas "still
have a lot of sympathy among the people."
Mr Zahir said that militants are now holding meetings in randomly selected
homes roughly every other night, gathering residents together and demanding
that they turn over the names of anyone co-operating with the authorities.
The Taliban regularly issued "night letters" posted at mosques or on utility
poles warning against collaboration, added the governor. They often
intimidated residents into providing them with shelter and food, even in
densely populated neighbourhoods of the city.
He said that it was difficult for the authorities to counter the Taliban's
campaign because the militants were mostly moving around without guns.
"If they are detained, they claim they are just ordinary citizens," Mr Zahir
said.
US military spokesman Lieutenant Colonel Jeff Rule said: "Dislocating the
insurgents physically was easy - dislocating them socially is a lot harder."
Mervyn Patterson, a former UN political affairs expert in Afghanistan,
predicted that the Taliban would "reinfiltrate in due course as the Afghan
government fails to live up to the modest expectations Nato has of it.
"I do not think that the Taliban have been weakened in Helmand by the loss
of Marjah - they will gradually return."
Journalists are still barred from visiting Marjah unless they are "embedded"
with the US military.
