British hand behind Ahvaz bombings?
By Hassan Hanizadeh
Tehran -- The tragic bombings in Ahvaz on Tuesday, in which some civilians were
martyred, are another indication that foreign powers have targeted Iran’s national
unity.
The recent explosions, as well as some similar incidents which occurred in Ahvaz last
year, are definitely being carried out within a framework of an organized conspiracy
to weaken the Islamic Republic’s national cohesion.
Khuzestan Province, that has for decades been a center of unity for all Iranian
ethnic groups, has now become the center of attention of neocolonial powers that
dream of creating ethnic strife in Iran.
During the eight years of the Iran–Iraq war, the brave inhabitants of Khuzestan
Province manifested the most beautiful epics of unity, proved their awareness of the
conspiracies of the enemies of the Islamic Revolution, and were never affected by the
divisive measures of the enemies.
During the 1980-1988 Iran–Iraq war, former Iraqi dictator Saddam tried to foment
division among the ethnic groups of Khuzestan by promoting ethnocentrism, but he
failed due to the people’s awareness.
After the collapse of the Ba'ath regime in 2003, Britain stationed troops in Iraq’s
Basra Province, which borders Iran’s Khuzestan Province, so that it could pursue its
treacherous objective of inciting division among Iranian citizens of the oil-rich
region.
The British provocations began with the establishment of a subversion training center
in Basra by MI6 agents. British instructors trained a number of traitors there to
foment insecurity in Khuzestan.
British officials, pining for the days of empire, stepped up their anti-Iranian
activities over the past year, parallel to the West’s political challenges over the
Islamic Republic’s nuclear dossier.
These moves were meant to entangle the Islamic Republic in domestic affairs in order
to pressure Iran to abandon its national plan to gain access to civilian nuclear
technology.
Such divisive measures are not limited to Khuzestan Province. Through the connivance
of the United States, a series of kidnappings have occurred on Iran’s eastern borders
meant to destabilize the border region.
The recent plot of the United States, the Zionist regime, and Britain to destabilize
Iran’s border regions was actually planned after the failure of the West to unite the
international community against Iran’s nuclear dossier.
This plot, that includes inciting ethnic tension in different parts of Iran, is
definitely doomed to failure because the Iranian nation has neutralized such
conspiracies before through its awareness.
Although some protests are staged in Iran every now and then, they are not at all a
sign of national weakness, but, on the contrary, a sign of strength for the Islamic
Republic of Iran because all Iranian nationals can attain their rights within the
framework of the Iranian Constitution.
Therefore, the foreign powers’ exploitation of the issue of democracy in Iran in
order to create insecurity in the country indicates their frustration at the failure
of their efforts to pressure the Islamic Republic.
Such moves will not only fail to weaken national security in Iran, but will also
familiarize the Iranian nation with the ominous nature of foreign powers, especially
Britain and the United States.
At the end of the day, the neocolonialist powers must realize that the Islamic
Republic of Iran has faced numerous conspiracies over the past 27 years, all of which
have been neutralized by the awareness of the Iranian nation, and that this struggle
will eventually oblige the imperialists to bow to the strong will of Iranians.
