kiarostami: intellectual elements are success elements of iran films

tehran, march 26, irna -- acclaimed iranian director abbas kiarostami
said at kish island of iran at the persian gulf sunday that the
success of the iranian cinema is primarily due to the intellectual
elements in the iranian movies.
speaking to an audience of cinema buffs at kish island, he said
''we have been able to relate to people around the world because of
our ability to communicate with others using our own language.''
the director, whose films have been hailed with rave reviews at
film festivals around the world, added that intellectual elements and
realism in the iranian cinema had balanced superior western technology
and extravagant spending.
kiarostami predicted that intellect-based cinema would eventually
replace action-filled movies globally.
the iranian film-maker sunday was awarded the 'golden dolphin'
award by the kish free trade zone authority of iran.
