Tehran, Aug. 12, IRNA -- Head of Majlis' (parliament) Article 90
commission, with special responsibility to monitor complaints on the
performance of state bodies, said Friday that the commission is
determined to follow up cases affecting the three branches of
government brought to it for review government within the framework of
its duties.
Hussein Ansari-Rad, the deputy from Neishabour, Khorasan province
in northeast Iran, told IRNA that the three branches are duty-bound to
closely cooperate with the commission and provide it with the required
information.
Conceding that the commission had previously failed to abide by
its commitments, the deputy said that the commission has been faced
with numerous sensitive cases. Therefore, he stressed, it needed to
speed up the procedure in the study of cases.
Ansari-Rad said that the commission set up under Article 90 has
received specific complaints in recent months against the performance
of the judiciary and the executive branch on sensitive state issues.
He revealed that the commission has received complaints against
senior officials, especially in certain ministries, as well as
complaints lodged by some political prisoners and persons interested
in outcome of the serial murders.
Elaborating on the activities of the seven committees of the
commission, he said, the committee dealing with judicial cases has
also been activated and called on judiciary officials to report
details of investigation on the serial murders case to the committees
as far as these concerned the commission.
He said that despite the fact that the work of the commission has
been delayed, its members are now enthusiastically accomplishing their
duties as stipulated in the Constitution.
"Members of the presiding board of the commission were elected in
last Tuesday's session in accordance with Article 49 of the
commission's internal regulations," he added.
