A friend - a fellow living in Sydney Australia - has asked
for resources to help him learn the Persian language.
Whilst I am aware of a few such site on the Net, new and
improved sites are added continually. No doubt there are
SCI readers who keep abreast of them. I would appreciate
being directed to such sites, plus information on dictionaries
and other relevant resources available on the Internet.
Many thanks in advance,
Shahin Malekpour
Additional contributions to this thread would
of course assist in developing a useful introductory
FAQ reference to better enable future enquirers
in SCI.

Against the Theory of "Sexist Language":
"... the presence of gender in language bears no relation
whatsoever to the nature of the corresponding societies.
The best historically conspicuous example is Persian.
Old Persian, like Greek, Latin, and Sanskrit, had the original
Indo-European genders of masculine, feminine, and neuter.
By Middle Persian all gender had disappeared. This was not
the result of Persian feminist criticism, nor was it the result of
the evolution of an equal opportunity society for women.
It just _happened_."
