Malegaon blast accused planning Mohan Bhagwat's assassination:
PatilFriday, April 9, 2010,15:48 [IST]
Mumbai, Apr 9 (ANI): Maharashtra Home Minister R R Patil on Friday
said in the state assembly that his department had ample proof that
the Malegaon blast accused made derogatory remarks against Rashtriya
Swayamsevak Sangh (RSS) chief Mohan Bhagwat, and hinted that they were
planning his assassination.
Patil said the Anti-Terrorist Squad (ATS) squad seized an audio-
cassette from a Malegaon blast accused in which derogatory remarks
have been made about the RSS chief.
The conversation also had a reference about the use of chemical poison
to eliminate a person, which comes much later in the tape.
The Home Minister guaranteed the house that his ministry is looking
into the matter with some seriousness and appropriate action would be
taken against all those involved in it.
RSS spokesperson Ram Madhav said they came to know about the plot from
the media, adding that they also knew this report, which came out
almost two years ago.
"We came to know about it from the media. Such reports came out two
years ago when the investigating officers said that there was a plot,"
said Madhav.
"As the RSS chief enjoys security from the government, the government
should look into the matter," he added.
Mohan Bhagwat has, however, refused to disclose information about the
assassination plot against him. (ANI)

Notices served upon Malegaon blasts accused
Thursday, October 18, 2007,19:37 [IST]
Nashik, Oct 18: In a process to declare three of the accused in last
year's September 8 Malegaon blasts as absconders, the Central Bureau
of Investigation (CBI) has served notices upon the trio to present
themselves before the court.
The three accused are Riyaz Ahmed, Ishtiq Mohammed and Mohammed Ahmed.
The notices were pasted on the houses of the accused as they were not
available.
The CBI is expected to file a chargesheet in the case on October 23
and, so, the process of declaring the three, who are untraceable, as
absconding accused was initiated.
The Malegaon blasts case was earlier being probed by the Anti
Terrorist Squad (AIS) but following demands from some Muslim
organisations, the inquiry was handed over to the CBI.
The blasts took place at Bada Kabrastan and Mushawarat chowk area of
the powerloom town of Malegaon, on the occasion of Shabe-e-Barat, on
September 8, 2006 which killed 31 people were killed and more than
300, were injured in the blast.

Modi holds closed-door meet with RSS brass
TNN, Apr 22, 2010, 06.33am IST

NAGPUR: On a day when the other Modi of IPL fame was making headlines,
Gujarat chief minister Narendra Modi flew into city here for a meeting
with the RSS bosses. He spent more than two hours at RSS headquarters
in Mahal area and is believed to have discussed the Gujarat riots case
being investigated by the Supreme Court-appointed special
investigating team (SIT). RSS chief Mohan Bhagwat and at least ten
other senior RSS functionaries were present.
Modi landed around 6.50 pm by a special flight. As a special
arrangement, cars were allowed at the tarmac to fetch him to avoid
waiting newsmen. Even at the gates of the RSS headquarters, there was
heavy police bandobast and reporters waited in vain for hours as his
convoy zipped past. The meeting was shrouded in secrecy. Besides
Bhagwat, RSS pointsman with BJP Madan Das Devi was also present.
There was intense speculation about the visit which was scheduled at
least since Sunday. Local BJP leaders were totally unaware of it. Most
of them were on way to the national capital for the anti-price-rise
rally led by party president Nitin Gadkari. That Modi should skip the
Delhi rally, seen as first show of strength after Gadkari took over
reins of the party, and come to Nagpur when Gadkari was not here, came
as a surprise in political circles.
RSS spokesman Ram Madhav told TOI Modi’s meeting (baithak) here was a
scheduled one and it was mainly to discuss the post-Godhra riots case.
Last month, Modi had appeared before the SIT which is also probing the
case in which he has been named prime accused in a complaint filed by
Zakia Jafri, widow of slain Congress ex-MP Ahsan Jafri. He was
questioned for more than six hours by the SIT. Jafri along with 68
others, was killed in Gulbarg Society on February 28, 2002, and his
widow has accused Modi and his government of failing to protect
citizens and abetting the riots that claimed nearly 1180 lives in
2002, after the Godhra carnage in which 59 persons were burnt alive on
Sabarmati Express.
Asked if other political issues or IPL controversy, in which the
Gujarat chief minister’s name had also figured at one stage, came up
for discussion, Madhav said the IPL was not discussed at all. Modi
left Sangh building around 9.45 pm for the airport to take his special
flight for Ahmedabad.

I really wish Modi moves to national politics. He can bring about the
need change in India's image. He will strengthen the internal
security, address China, Arunachal, Maoist issues. The only Probelm -

There is a speculation that RSS's job in Gujarat for has been achieved
and Modi will be given a new task. He will be sent to Central Politics
to move out Jaitley, and Sushma Swaraj to make Gadkari's life easy.
Labourer sexually abuses 8-year-old
TNN, Apr 21, 2010, 03.37am IST

NAGPUR: An eight-year-old girl became the target of a sexual pervert
on Monday night. The accused Shaikh Rajik (19) had been engaged in
some construction work at the girl's house at Shastrinagar in the
limits of Gittikhadan police station. He abused the girl in her one-
room house after sending away her brother and mother on some errands.
Nisha (name changed) was watching television in her house with her
younger sister (6) alongside her. Before making his move, Rajik
ensured that the victim's mother was busy in work outside the house.
He also distracted her 10-year-old brother by sending him to fetch
some cement bags before forcing the girl to submit to his deeds. The
neighbours and family members were alerted to the misdeeds by the
younger sister, who ran out of the house. The neighbours told TOI that
Rajik was a habitual offender and the latest incident was the third
time he had been caught in the act.
Nisha's mother said that Rajik also insulted her when she went to tell
his family members about the sexual abuse. "He (Rajik) was abusive and
denied the act. I was petrified and offended at being abused like this
even though the honour of my family and my daughter's reputation was
at stake. On top of that, there was complete humiliation from everyone
in the locality," said Nisha's mother.
Rajik had been engaged just for a day to complete some construction
work that had been going on for a week.
Nisha's family members said Rajik had sneaked into the room on three
occasions during the day. Her brother too had questioned Rajik about
entering the room without work, but he did not inform his mother.
Rajik then asked Nisha's mother to bring construction material from
some distance away. On returning she was busy cleaning utensils
outside when Rajik entered the room and asked Nisha's brother to find
the cement bags.
As soon as the boy left the room, Rajik forced himself upon the minor
girl and engaged in unnatural acts.

Godman's flock signed 'sex pacts'
Vinay Madhav, TNN, Apr 23, 2010, 03.06am IST

BANGALORE: Nudity, sexual activity, and physical intimacy were part of
the “learning and practice of ancient tantrik secrets’’ at
Dhyanapeetam Ashram of controversial godman Swami Nityananda at
Bidadi, near Bangalore. Nityananda was caught on camera during an
alleged sex romp with an actress last month.
Bizarrely, those who volunteered for the programmes were made to sign
an agreement prohibiting them from disclosing any of these details or
taking legal recourse after practising “ancient tantrik secrets’’. The
programme is called ‘Learning from the Master Program’.
The "non-disclosure agreements" were part of the documents seized by
CID during raids on the ashram, where they seized computer hard disks,
laptops and mobiles.
One clause of the agreement, accessed by TOI, states: “Volunteer
understands that the Program may involve the learning and practice of
ancient tantric secrets associated with male and female ecstasy,
including the use of sexual energy for increased intimacy/spiritual
connection, pleasure, harmony and freedom. Volunteer understands that
these activities could be physically and mentally challenging, and may
involve nudity, access to visual images, graphic visual depictions,
and descriptions of nudity and sexual activity, close physical
proximity and intimacy, verbal and written descriptions and audio
sounds of a sexually oriented, and erotic nature, etc."
It further says: "By reading and signing this addendum, Volunteer
irrevocably acknowledges that he/she is voluntarily giving his
unconditional acceptance of such activities and discharges the Leader
and the Foundation, and anyone else not specifically mentioned here
but directly or indirectly involved in the organization, management or
conduct of any such programs from any liability, direct or indirect,
arising from such activities."
A CID official said most of those who enrolled for this programme were
women, and 90% were from Tamil Nadu. CID sleuths had watched a CD with
more than 35 video clippings of Nityananda in compromising positions
with at least five women.

Terrified of panchayat, 5 commit suicide
Rao Jaswant Singh, TNN, Apr 23, 2010, 04.02am IST

JAIPUR: Terrified by the diktat of a caste panchayat, a couple along
with their two children and a neighbourhood woman committed suicide by
jumping before a speeding train at Bajna Khurd village in Karauli
district on Thursday. A third child of the couple, who was also part
of the suicide pact, survived.
The panchayat had asked the man to pay Rs 50,000 for his alleged extra-
marital relationship with the neighbourhood woman, who also ended life
with the family. Based on the suicide note left behind by the family,
the police have registered a case against the members of the caste
panchayat under Section 306 of IPC, which deals with abetment to
suicide. However, none has been arrested so far.
The deceased have been identified as Gajendra alias Gajju Jat (40),
wife Heero Devi (35), son Rohit (6) and daughter Chanchal (9) and a
neighbour, Kunwar Devi (35). Gajendra's eldest daughter Mona (11), who
was also part of the suicide pact, survived.
Additional SP, Karauli, Maman Singh said the police recovered a
suicide note from Gajendra, which referred to a panchayat `firman' and
his inability to pay the penalty. The police have recorded the
statement of Mona to get the details of the incident.
All senior administrative and police officials are camping in the area
and extra forces have been deployed to prevent any untoward incident.
The mutilated bodies of the victims were collected by the police and
have been sent to Hindaun hospital for post-mortem.
According to the police, objecting to Gajendra's alleged relationship
with Kunwar Devi, the latter's mother and brother put the case before
the caste panchayat and demanded action against Gajendra. They also
alleged that Gajendra extorted money from their daughter in the name
of the relationship. On April 18, the members of panchayat heard the
case and decided that the relationship between Gajendra and Kunwar was
unethical and they should live separately. However Kunwar, who was
present during the hearing, denied charges of extortion on Gajendra
levelled by her family.
As part of the punishment, the Bajna village panchayat directed
Gajendra to pay a penalty of Rs 50,000 and return Rs 10,000 with
interest, which he had borrowed from Kunwar. They also warned him
about social boycott in case he failed to pay the fine imposed on
him.

Following a sessions court ruling, which sentenced five people to
death and another to life imprisonment for murdering a young married
couple in Haryana on the orders of a khap (caste) panchayat, khap
chiefs have demanded a ban on same gotra marriages. A khap
mahasammelan in Kurukshetra has demanded an amendment to the Hindu
Marriage Act and threatened a march to Delhi if its demands are not
met. Its position is patently against the Indian Constitution, which
was openly challenged by some of the khap leaders during their public
demonstration. Such demands should be rejected outright and the police
should come down heavily if khap leaders resort to breaking the law.
The young couple in Haryana was murdered in 2007 because they married
despite belonging to the same gotra. This is no isolated incident.
Same gotra marriages are a crime in the eyes of khap members. There
have been several instances in the recent past where khaps have been
party to honour killings. According to one survey, at least a hundred
men and women have been victims of khaps for not adhering to
traditional norms.
This cannot be allowed to continue. The sessions court verdict should
be used as a springboard to launch vigorous action against khaps,
which have been operating as a parallel judiciary and enforcing a
medieval form of justice in parts of northern India. Unfortunately
there are influential people, such as a former DGP and a prominent
farmer leader, who are backing this form of medieval justice. If any
allowance is made to khaps, this would open a Pandora's box with
different communities demanding that their customs and traditions be
given legal status. This would be completely unworkable and against
all principles of human rights and justice. Traditions and customs are
fine, so long as they don't infringe on the principle of the Indian
Constitution and the laws of the land.
The government is rightly considering amending the Indian Penal Code
to make honour killings a separate offence with appropriate
punishment. This should go some way in deterring honour killings which
are sanctioned not only by khaps but other groups too. Raising
literacy levels and empowering women in parts of northern India where
khap panchayats wield maximum power must accompany legal measures. The
mother of one of the victims has led the fight for justice in this
instance. That itself is a hopeful sign.

Seven convicted for honour killing in HaryanaCHANDIGARH: In an
historic verdict, which deals a blow to the barbaric kangaroo courts,
the Karnal sessions court on Thursday held six people guilty of
killing a couple who married against the wishes of the khap panchayat.
The landmark judgment in Manoj and Babli murder case goes where no one
else has dared to and is a slap in face of Taliban-style caste
councils in Haryana.
The court, which leaves no room for parallel justice, will pronounce
the quantum of punishment on March 29.
While a a self-styled khap leader, Ganga Raj, and five of Babli's
relatives -- brother Suresh, uncles Rajender and Baru Ram and cousins
Satish and Gurdev -- have been held guilty of murder, the seventh --
Mandeep Singh, the driver of vehicle (Scorpio) used in crime -- faces
kidnapping and conspiracy charges.
"I want capital punishment for the killers," said Chanderpati, the
widowed mother of Manoj, soon after the verdict was announced. She
also demanded action against those khap members who had hounded the
newlyweds and forced a boycott of the family. "All of them should be
tried under fresh charges," she said.
Manoj, 23, of Karoran village in Kaithal district, had married Babli,
19, against the wishes of her family on May 18, 2007. The duo, who
shifted to Karnal after marriage, but was killed in cold blood on June
15, 2007. The entire village had turned against Manoj's family, since
the khap was against his marriage as his Babli, too, was from the same
gotra. The panchayat had also announced a fine of Rs 25,000 on those
found keeping ties with them.
Relief had come from the Kaithal court, which directed the police to
ensure the couple's safety.
Accordingly, Manoj and Babli were accompanied by cops when they had
left the police station in Kaithal, to ensure that they reach a
secured destination. However, Gurdev, who tracked their movements, had
forced the couple out of the Karnal-bound they were travelling in and
their bodies were fished out of irrigational canal days later.
A confidential police report had disclosed that the two cops
accompanying the couple had been in regular contact with Gurdev via
cellphone. Notably, the case was built on the basis of strong
circumstantial evidences as there were no eyewitnesses. Investigations
led cops to the Scorpio, where they found two buttons of Manoj's shirt
and Babli's anklet.
On Thursday, a large number of policemen were deployed in the court
premises to avoid any untoward incident as hundreds of villagers had
gathered to hear the verdict. However, no one from Manoj's family was
present due to apprehensions of threat to life. The premises erupted
into heated arguments as soon as the verdict was given and scribes
approached the convicts and their relatives for comment.
"The verdict will send a clear message to khap leaders -- that they
don't have any right to take anybody's life," claimed Lal Bahadur, the
counsel for Manoj's family.
Last year, The Times of India had highlighted how Ganga Raj, a self-
styled panchayat leader, was not being arrested despite court
warrants. Even the police had told the court that his arrest could
lead to law and order problem. Ganga Raj was forced to surrender only
when pressure was mounted on him from different quarters, including
the All India Democratic Women Association (AIDWA). Welcoming the
court verdict,
Jagmati Sangwan, state president of AIDWA, said, "We hope the guilty
would be awarded strict punishment so that a signal is sent to those
self-styled panchayat leaders who have been taking the law into their
own hands."
What is horrifying is that the khap panchayat even went to the extent
of blatantly protecting the murderers. Gangaraj, was even felicitated
at a function for killing Manoj and Babli.

I was in a trance when video was recorded: Swami Nithyananda
Times Now, Mar 14, 2010, 03.16am IST
Swami Nityananda speaks on alleged sex tape Watch Video
HARIDWAR: Claiming that he was in a trance when the sleaze video —
telecast by TV channels recently — was being recorded, Nithyananda
Paramahamsa, in an exclusive interview to Times Now in Haridwar on
Saturday, neither denied nor confirmed that it was him on the tape.
The 33-year-old godman said he was ''in a state of samadhi (trance)''
when the video, showing him in a compromising position with an
actress, was taken. The tape, he said, had been ''misinterpreted,
morphed and manipulated.'' He alleged that the media onslaught on him
was without any basis and that he was being held guilty without a
trial.
Was that you in the sleaze tape?
There's a lot of misinterpretation, manipulation and morphing. Now, we
are working to find out which part was recorded and which was
manipulated. When that video was taken, I was in a state of trance. My
personal life has been misrepresented and my privacy has been invaded.
Media has even taken pictures of me when I am changing my clothes
after a bath. This has been done to defame me.
It is being said that the tape was taken in December 2009? Were you
sick then?
I was sick for a very long time. Consciously, I was in a samadhi...
physically I was not well. Some of the things have been misinterpreted
by the onlookers. Or rather it has been misinterpreted by those who
wanted to do it.
Has life changed for you in the last two weeks?
In the thirty-three years of my life I have seen fame. I was the most
watched guru on YouTube. Now, in the last few days I have been the
most watched scandal. Both have taught me many things about life. But
what shocked me most is the thought that there is so much enmity
against me. The good thing from all this is I am getting millions of
emails, phone calls and a flood of support from people who are not
even my devotees. My disciples are feeling so bad that someone's
private life has been misinterpreted and abused.
Was the actress in your ashram then?
She has been serving me for a very long time. She was volunteering to
take care of me when I was sick. All her family members have been my
devotees. There is no denying that she is a devotee.
Do you think it's because of stand-off with people in power?
I don't have any political ambition. I did not fight with anybody. I
don't want to disrespect anyone.
Tainted Swami Nithyananda's religious centre ceases operations in

KUALA LUMPUR: A religious centre here which promotes the teachings of
tainted Indian spiritual guru Swami Paramahamsa Nithyananda, who is
allegedly involved in a sex scandal, has ceased its operations.
"We made the decision to stop operations for a while following advice
from the Malaysia Hindu Sangam," the centre's spokesman was quoted in
the local media as saying after the centre was flooded with calls from
followers since the guru's alleged involvement in the scandal broke
out in India.
Nithyananda landed in trouble following the telecast of video footage
by a South Indian television channel allegedly showing him in a
compromising position with a Tamil actress.
The spokesman said the ashram, set up two years ago, in Taman Desa
Gombak was the only centre in Malaysia to promote the teachings of
Nithyananda.
"We do not have the exact number of devotees in Malaysia or healing
centres. I believe there are about 400 healers in the country," the
local Star newspaper quoted him as saying.
Chennai police has registered a rape and cheating case against

Just because one person in a group did something wrong we can not say
the whole group is responsible but certainly the group will have
negative effect. Apart from that instead of just blindly believing
something better know why you believe what you believe.

Most of these well established swamis and muts are running these type
of activities and acquiring money and property through ill deeds,
cheating, land grabbing, spreading mad beliefs, blind idoelogies with
good fanfare.
Tanveer London 09 Mar, 2010 06:11 PM
Why is TOI allowing such abusive comments ot be published! I as a
muslim condemn such insult to other religions. What the 'swami' did is
not sactioned by Hindusim. Just the so-called 'muslim' terrorists'
actions are not sactioned by Islam. This swami is a manipulator of his
religion for his own use.

Protest over Swami Nithyananda's alleged sex videoCHENNAI/BANGALORE: A
salacious tape containing alleged sexual acts of godman Nithyananda
Paramahamsa, telecast by a Tamil TV channel repeatedly since Tuesday
night, triggered violence across Tamil Nadu and Karnataka, with
disciples in his ashrams located in the two states being roughed up
and his property damaged by the irate public.
The tape, aired by the channel, shows a man, similar in appearance to
the young long-haired godman, in a few minutes of sexual romp
allegedly with a Tamil actor. The incident also evoked a sharp
response from Tamil Nadu CM M Karunanidhi. When asked in Tiruchi about
the alleged sexual excesses by the godmen, the CM said a meeting of a
high-level committee comprising members of the state-run Hindu
Religious and Charitable Endowment department and other top officials
would be convened to discuss and decide on the course of action the
government planned to take to curb the trend.
Nithyananda made a vain bid late in the evening to restrain the media
from airing the tape, but a city civil court did not grant any stay,
as sought by the godman, but merely ordered notices to some news
organisations. In his petition, he claimed that the video footage was
a fake and morphed one. He blamed an inmate of his ashram, Premananda
alias Lenin Karuppan, for the morphing of his face with the idea of
defaming him. The petition has been posted to March 8 for further
hearing. The godman said he had 45 lakh devotees in 17 countries and
was involved in social work and education besides spiritual
activities.
In Chennai, a group of advocates lodged a complaint against the godman
at the police commissionerate, seeking criminal action against him.
Alleging that he had amassed wealth worth several crores of rupees,
they demanded that the government confiscate his properties and freeze
his accounts. In Coimbatore, the godman's posters were ripped off the
street walls and staff in a yoga centre run by his devotees fled
fearing an attack.
Reacting to the defamatory video, a statement from the Nithyananda
Dhyanapeetam at Bidadi in Karnataka said: ‘‘A mix of conspiracy,
graphics and rumour are at play in these recent events that have
unfolded. We are working on a legal course of action and will come up
with updates in due course.''
An uneasy calm prevailed around the 14-acre ashram at Dasanakoppalu,
near Bidadi, in the suburbs of Bangalore. Police cordoned off the
ashram premises to prevent the public from creating trouble.

some apsaras had come to disturb the rishis in the anscient time also.
So such things are normal for human characters. Neither swami nor the
actress are guilty, the guilt is the internal supressed sensual
feeling of the swami or the lady. We have to give excuse both of them.

from grace they attack him. maybe now they understood that he duped
them and is richer than they are, its a frustration of thier failures
