Kozhikode:The theoretical vedic wisdom of the West would
meet the practical wisdom of the East at the
international vedic workshop which is scheduled to be
held here from January 7 to 10. It is the secular image
of the state which made the scholars of Harvard
University, organisers of the workshop; decide to hold it
here despite hectic lobbying from institutions across the
globe.
[...]
Workshop chief co-ordinator P Vinod Bhattathirippad told
Deccan Chronicle that the international committee decided
to conduct the workshop in the country of the Vedas
where the spirit was still kept aflame, to ensure an on
ground experience of vedic practice and direct
interaction with practicing scholars.
Around 90 Vedic scholars from India and abroad have
already shown interest in participating in this workshop.
Skilled Veda chanters from the two Kerala schools of
Rigveda, chanters from different Yajurveda schools and
from the rare school of Saamaveda would add value to the
theoretical deliberations at the workshop, said
organisers. The organizing committee has already started
receiving research papers from across the globe.
