As shankranti deadline approaches, BJP fight to keep Yeddyurappa in
party

Bangalore - Fears of an imminent showdown between former chief
minister BS Yeddyurappa and the BJP leadership has sent jitters among
majority of party MLAs as the shankranti deadline set by Yeddyurappa
for getting a 'suitable' post is fast approaching.
A group of BJP MLAs of Bangalore led by home minister R Ashok urged
the former chief minister on Monday not to abandon the party.
Over 10 MLAs who attended a breakfast meeting in Yeddyurappa's
residence expressed apprehensions of disastrous consequences for BJP
if Yeddyurappa quits the party. The meeting gains significance in the
light of Yeddyurappa's threat to chart his own course after January
15 if the party high command fails to accord him a suitable
responsibility befitting his stature by then.
The meeting that went on for over 2 hours is said to have discussed
the rumblings in BJP that threatens the DV Sadananda Gowda
government. According to sources the MLAs pleaded Yeddyurappa not to
quit the party. They expressed their solidarity with Yeddyurappa's
demand for a suitable post befitting his stature.
Speaking to media after the meeting R Ashok said they met the former
CM to discuss issues concerning development of Bangalore. However
replying to queries he said, "He deserves a post befitting his
stature."

BJP should never have made Yeddyurappa resign. I wrote this even when
all that shouting for his resignation was going on. Unfortunately, the
super corrupt press and media which are sold out to the even more
super corrupt congress party put immense pressure on the BJP and kept
on equating the much lesser corruption in Karnataka (which BTW was
started under the congress party much earlier) and equated that with
the immense corruption of the congress party. What was worse was that
even though we got a huge mining scam scandal in Goa the press and
media have not gone after the Goa chief minister in the same manner.
And neither have they targeted Shiela Dixit as vehemently as they did
Yeddyurappa even though there were charges by the Delhi Lokayukta
against Shiela Dixit.
So, in the end Karnataka lost a very able and good chief minister who
is any day less corrupt than his predeccessors of other parties. And
not only is he more honest than them but is a far better and able
leader who can take Karnataka into an excellent future. One hopes that
once his name is cleared he will once again come into a leadership
position in the BJP.
