Cov Phoojywg, I don't know what you think but for what I see and according to the above link "part 2", this is not a book to me. It just, I call it, abstracts, references, cronologies, notes, citations, researches and/or interviews that compiled into an encyclopedia. It is a good source about events that happened to Hmong in Laos but I don't consider it a book. A reference of Hmong in the pass, maybe, because I have not read and or seen the entire books.

So far I knew many information of his book is incorected. I had read
most of them but certain former high ranking military commander of MR-
II which he described, write, is wrong. Example: he writes about Col.
Nhia Xou Yang and Col. Tou Long Yang.

Col. Nhia Xou Yang

From 1961 to 1967, Col. Nhia Xou Yang was Commander of
Battalion 203 at Phou Fa-Phou Vieng. He led his battalion in several
battles in the Plain of the jars, and was in charge of military
reorganizstion of MR-II. In 1970, he asked to be put on leave of
absence and, in 1975, immigrated to the US where he now lives in
Minnesota.

From 1961-67 Former Col. Nhia Xou Yang was not the rank of
Colonel yet.

Col. Tou Long Yang,

From 1961 to 1965, Col. Tou Long Yang was the commander of
Phounong Phi Camp, west of Phou Fa - Phouvieng. He served as officer
liaison with MR-I for several years, immigrated to France then to the
USA, where he now lives in Michigan.

From 1961-65 Former Col. Tou Long Yang was not the rank of
Colonel yet.

I really agree with you. Vang Geu is a good copier and paster. He had just copied some one else notes and pasted word by word into his book instead of doing research and writing on his own words. It does not worth to read this book.

For whoever do not know the Hmong history very well and for the Hmong younger generation, FYI, the picture #90 on 4.3 Administrative System and page #5 on "Tou Ya Xay Chou, Virabourouth Heng Phene Dinh Lane Xang" is not Col. Tou Ya, commander of Second Battalion of the Lao communists stationed at the Plain of Jars in 1957 during the first coalition government.

This picture had been taken in 1986 and it is his nephew, Souddala Ya Thortou, author of "Tou Ya Xay Chou, Virabourouth Heng Phene Dinh Lan Xang." I am sorry for Vang Geu. I do not want to speculate too much on his book. The more we talk the more mistake he made.

the best way to know about your root is to follow the root itself in my case that i have been searching. the first one i ask is my father than i follow up the branch of our ROOT. in doing so i have traverse the information about our family tree up to about 6 generations up to the THREE GREAT GRAND Fathers that did the migration from CHINA downward the mountain in CHINA into the low land into VIETNAM and next THAILAND and finally ended in LAOS which inside LAOS our family branched into two group the majority went to XIENG KHOUNG(XK) while one gran father stay in luangprabang. each step of the way during the move our family left a small group behind. as of currently we were able to follow up the tree and had found our family members were left behind in THAILAND, and VIETNAM. i still need to follow the tree upto CHINA but the time is in straining so that might not happen as soon as i desired but it will happen one day even if it take decades from now.

I truly appreciate the book. As a young Hmong-American observing, I know that recounts like this needs to be recorded and documented. The war is probably the most important event in contemporary Hmong-American history and we will one day need this material to understand our roots.
