Xaysomboun appoints new provincial governor
Party Central Committee member Major General Thongloy Silivong was officially appointed on Tuesday as the new Party Secretary of Xaysomboun province and provincial Governor. A ceremony to hand over the position between the former Party Secretary of Xaysomboun province and provincial Governor Dr Sombath Yialiher and Major General Thongloy Silivong took place at the Anouvong district club. The ceremony was attended by Politburo member and Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Education and Sports, Mr Phankham Viphavanh. Major General Thongloy was formerly Deputy Minister of National Defence and Chief of the National Defence Academy. He was one of 69 people elected to the Party Central Committee during the 10th Party Congress held in Vientiane last month. Xaysomboun was established on December 31, 2013, as Laos' 17th province. It is 220km from Vientiane or about a four-hour drive. It can be accessed by travelling to the Thabok area in Thaphabath district, Borikhamxay province, along Road No.13 South and then branching off to Xaysomboun. The province's main claim to fame is that it is home to Laos' highest mountain, Phu Bia, with an altitude of 2,820 metres. The mountainous province has 26 villages that are officially classified as poor, while 1,800 families live below the poverty line, which is 13.8 percent of all families in the province. Geographic conditions remain a challenge to development while private investment has focused only on mining and hydropower. Local administrations are encouraging people to engage in commercial production in areas of potential, notably food production. With a population of more than 81,000 people, the province covers an area of 8,500 square kilometres and comprises the districts of Hom, Longxan, Anouvong, Longchaeng and Thathom. Dr Sombath Yialiher was appointed as Governor of the province after being transferred from his position as Governor of Xayaboury province, before which he was the Mayor of Vientiane. Dr Sombath worked in grassroots development in the former special zone. Xaysomboun was designated as a special zone in 1994, but the government revoked this status in 2006.

In the history of our people, I believe Hmong were given two chances to have a piece of dirt to call PEBHMOOB...That chances are LONG GONE! The Lao-Hmong needs to unite and build that country along with others Laotians. We Hmong American need to STOP interfering with 40 years of LOST and move on to the NEXT chapter of our lives. MOST of our young Hmong American don't give a shit about LAOS, let alone interested in Laos politic.
What we NEED and urgently need is WE NEED TO BUILD an EMPIRE OF HUMAN RESOURCES HERE IN THIS COUNTRY. IT'S HERE IN AMERICAN THAT WE WILL BUILD OUR BASE OF POWER (ECONOMICALLY SPEAKING) AND PROJECT IT ACROSS THE WORLD in due time. LEARN FROM THE JEW!!!!
In regards to the change of authority in Xayomboun...WHATEVER concerns the LPDR has is their legitimate right. There's no reason to be concerned about Laos' politic. Why should WE? The Lao-Hmong can take care of themselves as they have always been. They don't need Hmong American as their backer or speculate on the situation. MOST of the people there are young and never saw the war. If you want progress for Hmong-Lao...there are more beneficial ways to help them. EDUCATE THEM through scholarships, students exchange programs, etc.
