It's weird. I have heard it all my life about the prosecution of my
people. There are so many stories to tell. All similar, but
different and unique in it's own way.

I've helped out in some benefits and fund raisers, but sometimes it
leads me to be so skeptical... like is the money we are donating going
to the right people and where "IT" says the money is going to. I have
been bitten once. But then I am here again.

I posted a week or so back about helping out with poverty and life in
Laos to families that are in need and desperate situations. I wanted
to get in contact with some teachers in Laos... but I guess it's
harder than what I thought and anticipated.

All I hear about is complaints of this and that and how bad the
situation is... but when it comes down to it, no one is really doing a
damn thing. I know we can only help one person at a time. I am not
looking to do a miracle.... but just want contact with someone
legitament with credentials and honesty to try and make a difference.
I can easily put my money and the funds that I have collected through
fund raisers and charity to any other charity... but it's not geared
towards Hmong people.... my people. I can easily help the people here
in the US too... but... I feel that the ones here are atleast out of
harms way...it's the ones that chose to stay behind because of no
choice, stupidity, or because they are kids and have no power for
making a choice.

What is one to do?

I am sick of people taking advantage of the system... I just want to
help those that really do need the help.

Me ntxhais es, txhob txhawjX mas. Help yourself first. The hmong
people in Laos are doing fine without your help and our hmongmeskas
help. Our "help" so far is nothing but trouble for the hmong people in
Laos. We all can help them by doing nothing---that's call the art of
fighting without a fight. Hands off, would you?

MilwakeeLady,

I would encourage you to do what you think it's right. The reason why
no one could give you an answer is that there is none. If you want
those to exist you'll have to create. If you want to start a
foundation and help the people in Laos I say go ahead. You seemed
like a smart lady. You need to take your own actions and make it
happen, don't wait for anyone. for sure you will not find any help in
here. If you come here for help you are in the wrong place. In here
most of people come in here because they cannot do anything but need
to complain. This is a message board not an action committee.

Thanks for everyones critic or critique.

I know I was going to get both ends and middle grounds of advice and
replies. I don't mind.

See... to me... I know that everyone has their own struggles. Even
though I am wanting to help... of course I have my own struggles too.
But there is so much free money and funds out there. Everyones
happiness and priorities are different I understand that. I have been
doing fundraisers and helping the Hmong community and other various
causes now for over 5 years. Charity and benefits are meant to be
done with out any expectations in return for yourself. That means to
not be selfish. I believe in living comfortably... not selfishly.
That is more fullfilling to me.

Our own problems are always going to be there no matter what. Stress
is always going to be there no matter what. Some things you can
change, others you can't. Your life could be better... but it could
be worst too. I like helping where I can instead of wasting time,
energy, and resources that is so easy at hands grasp. Life is too
short. I like being productive.

I know what I am doing is right.

Just watch. Someday in the near future... there will be Schools,
Teachers, Orphanages, and Centers for our Hmong people in Laos/
Thailand/US. There will be organizations set out to help those that
are really suffering. And I am going to be there and run the show.

MilwakeeLady,

I saw your post ealier last week and did respond. Today, I saw it
again and felt, I should at least say a couple things. They are over
50,000 teachers in Laos but none it is worth your effort. If you talk
to a teacher and do everything you can, contract money, idea, etc. it
only reaches that teacher. Why is that? that is the system in Laos. If
the teachers take your ideas, your moneys and come out with a plan,
that teacher is most likely end you in jail or accused of doing
something against the Lao Government.

A couple years ago, I went to Av Liab, a village about 10 miles from
Vientiane, I stopped by an elementary school and felt so bad because I
could see from the chair through the roof. Another way to say it, it
needs a new roof. I asked the teacher for some help, at least put a
new roof. the cost is $250 US dollars, I will pay for it. The teachers
ask that I need to go through the proper channel. First with the
principals, 2nd, the village leaders, 3rd, the mayor, than the federal
government. I asked can we just do with the principal. The principal
was called in and said the very same thing.

I asked my counsin who has a son attending the school for advise, he
said, No. I will cause trouble for him and his family.

Give your ideas, moneys, whatever you have to a Hmong kids who needs
help in your area it is much better than send it over to Laos.

Good Luck,

Hi MilwaukeeLady,

It's nice to hear that you want to help Hmong children in Laos. We need
more people like you. I just can't remember the link to one Canadian
lady who was doing the same thing you described here. It seems she was
able to do it. I posted it here once.

When I am done with school in a year. I plan on working and
supporting this idea of mine. It will be a life long commitment.

It would be nice to get some contact and information. That is all I
ask.

Thank you Hmong Freedom. That is the thing I wanted to know and
hear. No one has given me straight up answers as yours. I just want
to be prepared for what I am going to face. Only critisizm, boasting,
and nothing to back what they say. I know how much trouble it can
be... I know what can come out of it too. I am going to do everything
by the books in both countries to do what I want. It's for good will
and not for selfish reasons. I know God will help me and help open
eyes to my ideas.

I will be very honest. I am a born American Hmong. I have never set
foot in the Laos. But I plan on taking all the right steps to do what
I have to do. I will go there to Laos it self and talk to locals and
officials. I plan to go to Laos several times a year to make sure my
plans and money is used the right way. I am not stupid. I will pay
and raise funds to do what I have to do in order to help out and build
the fondations and organizations. Especially fill the schools too
with paid staff. Trained staff. I will do things from scratch.

I will start off small and work my way up.

I grew up with my dad who used to tell us kids everyday to be thankful
for what we had. That we had no idea how hard life was in Laos and
how much we take for granted. I thank God that I was born here. And
I know that I was here for a reason. Was educated here for a reason.
Have the life I have for a reason. Had my wonderful parents and
family for a reason. I am so fortunate. I want to preserve my
parents past... present... and future.

To be educated was my dads dream. I still remember his words... he
used to tell me that even though he does not speak English well, he is
not stupid. He just never had the chance. He does not have a degree
but he accomplised so much. He knows so many languages. And even
when coming to US... he took pride in everything he had and
accomplished... even the little things. My father and I were so
close, because I was the youngest... and even though I was a girl...
he loved me more than the boys. He took pride in all level of life he
could accomplish. My father, mother, and grandparents taught me to
live life... and to give back. To live comfortably and not selfishy.

I just want to give other kids that oppurtunity too. Atleast give
back to the community a little bit.

Mil lady,

It is not the right time at the right place. When it is ready, we can
contribute. For now, concentrate yourself first, then your family,
then clan before others. Seem to be a narrow minded, but we gotta
take this road. Now, most folks are taking advantage of other's
sufferings for their personal gains. Koj puas tau hnov cov lus hais

Milwaukeelady,

The best way to obtain accurate information is the US Embassy in the
Lao PDR or His Excellency Yong Chanthalangsy, the Lao Government
Spokesman. He's a frequent contributor to both SCH/SCL. You may wish
to e-mail him for more detail and the proper channel. From my personal
experienced, I find His Excellency the Lao Government Spokesman, very
humble and helpful. Good luck with your endeavor and never mind the
nay sayers.

Milwaukeelady,
Here is my advice: Go there and find out the truth yourself. SCH is
full of all sorts of people. The information you get from SCH may be
bad, good, serious, joke, political propaganda, and so on. Because you
come here with a screen name, you will less likely get the answer you
asked for, especially for personal contact information.

Milwaukee lady,

if you have the money, then please do help the Hmong people in our
community in the US. we still need lots of help, because the rule of
laws in Laos is beyond far different from here in the Stated.

your ideas/ideals had been approached long time ago, as Dr DYD, Dr.
Christerpher Teng Thao, and many head ways thinkers as once Hmong so
called leaders, they gone nowhere because just the rule of the laws in
LPDR.

just the Yoojyim's advice, as whoever makes contact with you...that
person would be the next in line to be jaiedl and/or death wish--
unless you have to go through that proper channel, from top to bottom.
however, if you would to go this route, your fundings would never able
to reach the poor children.

There is no proper channel to deal with this very issue at the moment,
even YawmSib and Dr Pao Oz had been through the same road, and they
had walked on those poor villages and schools. they had no idea where
to begin, ....just the law of the land in LPDR has not given you an
option to do this as yet. I believe there is a Lao Dr, but he is not
a Hmong... he had spent few dollars here and there to buy supplies for
those poor students.

if you know where are those fun, and more money to help the community,
then start here in our community. we have so much to do in the
States.

B2BH,

I think you should let her and encourage her to do what she this,
going to Laos to help the people in Laos. This is part of
reconciliation. Her success or failure in Laos will determine our
future. It will show wether people like her and the rest of us, can
orcan not go there to help our people.

If more and more people do as she plans, Laos will indeed be a better
place.

You and I had an agreement that we will promote peaceful solutions for
Laos didn't we? Let's do that by supporting her and everyone like her
to go back and help the people in our country, Laos.

Your friend,
Larry

Larry,

Yes, we both had agreed to promote peaceful resolution for Laos. I was
alluding to her that the funds would not get to where she wants it to
go. The many of us, inside of our hearts, we want to extend our hands
and help all the Laos citizens. However, it is the laws that we cannot
muster through them. These create lost and hope to the many of us, and
perhaps, we may not live to see these dreams ever come to live.

If you don’t mind—you can point her and many of us to the right
direction and information, as where this type of projects can begin.
Larry, you may have more contact information and better associate with
the many high official people in Lao.

Thanks in advance and hoping that you could provide us the information
and light through this channel or project, so we can all learn from
it.

I wanted to take this time to thank you all for your comments... both
negative and positive.

I wish you all success and wish that we are all going to be productive
in our lives the way we want it to be as individuals. There is no
right or wrong in what our own happiness lies and in what we want.
That makes us individuals and unique.

Hope to connect some day if it is in God's plans.

Hmong problem start when LPDR do a favor for USA
Remember a project call Eradicated "OPIUM"
Without study intelligibly LPDR start bring Hmong
Down to lowland. The US or LPDR hardly to know
that Hmong will live unhappy through their lives
without opium at their sides.
EO=EH, Eradicate Opium is equal to Eradicated Hmong.
Some Hmong commit suicide by stop breathing
Some run away in the jungle and some across the
Mekong river...
Hmong nork Jortor see opportunity to make money
out of them that's why the FFC is born, Project Fight to
get Laos back (Tee Oao MeungLao) is also born,
more Hmong die in Laos is more Hmongnork making
monies and also many innocent Hmong became terror
with out notice.
Any way I give credit to LPDR that doing right way of
correcting problem. The best way of correct problem
correct from where it start...If Hmongnork really care
about Hmong in Laos, the best way is remain silent...
