Dr Pao in Savannakhet with friends (from old Lycee Savannakhet) - oct 2009

As I arrived in Vientiane, Dr Bounkhouang (Director Livestock
department of Ministry of Agriculture) drove from the South of Laos to
pick me up in Vt to take me to Savannakhet. We stopped at Thong Na Mee
and Ban Na Sa Art (Vue Mai resettlement village). THong Na Mee is the
same. But the market of Ban Na Sa Art that was built by the UN for
the Vue Mai people is now taken over by the Laolum merchants. Only two
tent tables of Hmong, on the side of the building, selling banana as
before.

While in Savannakhet, we met at the Dao Heuang brand new golf course
for lunch, then Dr Khamphad (Director of Irrigation dept - being the
husband of Politburo member Pany Yathaotou) hosted us by taking us to
see one his relative silk factory and he gave us each a souvenir from
their beautiful silk shirt & skirt. Then we went to see the Savan
Vagas Casino/hotel... then to sing Karoke and to 2 weddings
in one evening!
