There's a song I hear on the radio every now and then that I can't get
out of my head. It first came out years ago, and I think someone
recently did a cover of it as well. It sounds like it's in Tahitian,
but jazzed up with modern percussion. The chorus goes something like:

Ia orana, ia orana, ia orana e
Te vahine Tahiti...

What's the name of this song, and who sings it? Thanks in advance.

Maybe its
TAHITI, TAHITI
by Na Waiho'olu'u O Ke Ke Anuenue

Its on a compilation called ISLAND ROOTS... along another great South Pacific
remake...
MASESE
by Kapena...

I know www.mele.com carries it...
The bands CD is at
http://www.mele.com/v3/info/1506.htm

and the compilation is at:
http://www.mele.com/v3/info/1766.htm

Has sound samples there so you can doublecheck to see if this is your song..

Hoping this helps!

Yep, that is the remake version.... the original one was done by some
French disco group or something called "Voyage" which came out in 1979.
It is off an album called "Souvenir" I believe.

Of course the song is more than likely taken originally from a
traditional source.

The original, Tahiti Tahiti by Voyage, is the music playing in the movie
"the Fugitive." Whenever Harrison Ford (Dr. Kimble) flashes back to the
party where his wife was last seen alive, Voyage is playing.

Yep, you guys got it the first time. It's been bugging me for a while
and I'm glad to find an answer. Thanks to everyone!
