In Josif's post you can clearly see the difference between what he
wishes he could conscionably do in his mind, and his peaceful nature.
However , your words show a readiness to "get physical"

Before

why get physical, why "brawl"? WAlk the walk is an expression for the
60s - you know that guy with the bitg feet out in front of him, the cute
thing. WHat you are suggesting is different.

Can one imagine being any of the following and a student of Stavros?:

a. a woman

b. a Macedonian if he is aware of it

c. small boned but possessing a mind.

d. all of the above

Go on. If you think that 6'2'' 190lbs

Threat upon no implied threat. Now, Stavros, consider this guy has
stated within his post that these feelings he has are things of the mind
wheras you suggest real threat. Your intepretation of his colloquial
expressions makes one wonder at your general ability to analyze people,
something that sociology is noted for?

Typical Stavros as an "educated" and credentialled professional
quotation here. Gives a whole new meaning to the concept educated,
doesn't it?

Hey, you are part of the neo-hellenic movement during its golden hours
of inception and definition and redefinition, not Josif. Josif is a
Macedonian. Why should he be expected to do a minute by minute analysis
of these apparently fluid terms?

Hee hee. Now this, Stavros is a Macedonian esxpression, not something
that you would be aware of. SO don't attempt to interpret cultural
matters of which you have no knowledge. Maybe if Josif does not attempt
a definition of Hellene and Hellenism and you do not attempt a
definition of....?

This is a pretty disgusting thing to be putting in this netgroup. The
childview filters are probably working overtime. What would you say
upon your own children reading such a thing? "Oh, Daddy was just
explaining to the nice man that he would like to see an intimate body
part inserted into that friend's throat."

I can imagine the response "By whom, Daddy?"

And your reply would be? Something like "Daddy will do what he usually
does when challenged physically"?

What HE was suggesting he WOULD (not was fantasizing about) do to me, if the
exchange had taken place in real space-time is reproduced above.

>> I can

If he were to try to put into reality OPTION A, in which HE says he WOULD do
all kinds of macho bodily harm, injury, and insult to me if he were in front
of me physically after our exchange . . . Your 'dear Josif' said that he WOULD
do all these 'actual hurting' to me if he were to meet me in real life. He
also 'bragged' about his supposedly impressive physique, and his allegedly
prodigious genitalia. And he is 'your dear Josif' and you are defending him
here, and accusing ME of threatening HIM. Ok, typical Galina!

>> Come on, I have never hidden nor run away from such a challenge.

>You are the one challenging, not Josif

Really? It's all on file, Galina, the written word STAYS, and I reproduced
what he threatened he would to me physically if he were face to face with me.
Who's challenging whom? You can fool some people all the time, you can fool
all people some of the time, but you positively cannot fool all people all of
the time, Galina.

Oh, I see. It is ***I*** who is suggesting something realistic, and not Josif.
So, you're basically saying that Josif was simply fantasizing, and making his
fantasies, fantasies of causing severe bodily harm on me if he were to meet me
in real life, PUBLIC for the entire USENET audience, right?

>
>> >, the following would have taken place: I would have whooped the

What, no clever little riposte here, Galina? A little too raw, and
inconsistent with your 'theory', for your consideration?

>> You and which army would have done all that? It's nice to dream, Josif, but
>> reality will teach you differently. COME ON. DO IT! I DARE YOU!

I am asking him to fulfill his 'fantasies' of trying to inflict all the bodily
harm that he claims he WOULD inflict upon me, if he were to meet me in real
life. And you're claiming that ***I*** am at fault! And, you're claiming that
***I*** am sophOmoric?

>> >And
>> >then, I would have spat some beechnut tobacco at his ugly and disfigured
>> >face. This option

Of course not. Neither are mine. When he decides to try to 'constitute
reality', I will be there to 'constitute MY reality'.

>> Why not? Are you that much of a coward, or that cheep.

>Here you provoke

Oh really? Yes, I provoke a man who said that he would do all those 'nasty'
things to me if our exchange had not taken place in cyber-space, but in real
life. And by your 'logic', you should be 'reprimanding' and 'chastizing' ME,
instead of him. You should write a book about how to raise one's children. I
am sure it will be a great hit!

> Should I chip in for
>> your ticket down from frozen Montreal, or wherever in Canada you happen to

This is becoming ridiculous! You claim that it is ***I*** who is attempting to
instill fear in a man who had just publically stated that he WOULD inflict all
kinds of bodily harm to me if he were to meet me in real life??? In what
universe does this make sense?

What's this? 'Intellectual response'? Is this not a prime example of
sophomoric bragadoccio? Why the reference to his 'sporting' 'big coconuts on
6'2'' and 190lb."? Is he simply describing his testes and his height and
weight for our edification? Is he simply 'sharing his thoughts' and 'vital
statistics' in 'colorful language'?

>a. a woman

Don't hurl accusations. Contact the UCLA Senate Committee on Teaching which
awarded me the 1996-97 Luckman Distinguished Teaching Assistant Award, and
consult UCLA's policies on sexual harassment. You are despicable. To defend a
young man who has foolishly threatened to inflict serious bodily harm on me if
he were to meet me in real life in PUBLIC, you are insinuating that I am a
'harasser'? This may work in Washington D.C., Galina, and in the dirty
campaings of politicians, but not in the real world.

>b. a Macedonian if he is aware of it

>c. small boned but possessing a mind.

>d. all of the above

Which one of the above would behave like your 'dear Josif'? Are you suggesting
that his post was an indication that he is 'small boned but possessing a
mind'? If we take him at his word, he is a man, a self-aware ethno-national
Macedonian, big-boned, tall, 'generously endowed with male testes', who WOULD
(allegedly): "have whooped the ass of this boy [this would be me, Stavros] to
a pulp", break every 'f...n' bone in my body, and spit 'beechnut tobacco in
[my] ugly and disfigured face' . So stop 'wondering' and insinuating, and deal
with the reality of Josif's character.

Oh, I get it, ***I*** am deficient in my 'general ability to analyze people,
something that sociology is noted for' . . . Oh yes, a highly plausible
interpretation. You find no 'implied threat' in what HE wrote, but you find it
in MY response . . . Suddenly, all of his C:LEAR threats are 'colloquial
expressions' whereas my response is 'threat'. As for what sociology and
sociologists are noted for, you are certainly not a reliable source.

'Big Dick McGee' is a 'Macedonian expression'? Come again? Where was this
'Macedonian expression' first hatched? In Skopje? In 'Lerin'? In 'Kostur' or
was it in 'Solun'? How many 'McGee' are there among ethno-national or even
regional Macedonians? Everybody in the English speaking word knows what kind
of expression this is. Ask around.

You are truly comical, Galina.

Of what? 'Big Dick McGee'? Heck, let's ask Sasho Kaladjevski, Goce Naumovski,
or even Slavko Mangovski whether 'Big Dick McGee' is a uniquely 'Macedonian
expression', and whether one would require 'being Macedonian' to interpret it
properly.

Oh yes, it's all ***MY*** fault. I am the one corrupting youth. I guess the
description of what Josif would do to me and my body if he were to meet me in
real life, and his reference to his 'large coconuts' and to himself as 'Big
Dick McGee' are 'innocent', 'colloquial expressions', 'intellectual responses'
. . .

An intimate body part? Who mentioned that intimate body part first? And why
did he mention it?

Have you no shame, Galina? Answer: NO!. And you have the audacity to pretend
to be a devout Orthodox Christian, and to quote hymns, and to take the 'Lord's
name in vain'. I guess the Christian thing to do is to 'love' you (in the
Christian sense) anyway, for you were also created 'in the image and likeness'
of God. You certainly make being virtuous extremely hard. Maybe God is testing
all of us with you.

Here is my analysis of the excerpts you have put here:

1. Statement about Mr. Snicker's inappropriate behavior.
2. A bunch of limited and clearly identified "if" statements with the
qualifying clauses "not behind the SAFETY of a computer" and regarding
irreality: "This option is not feasible".
3. A bunch of imagining by Josif.
4. Me having fun with the above.
5. Your suggestions ot take the macho contest into the realm of reality
with specific recomendations on how this might be accomplished, i.e.
made "feasible".

+++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++

Now, as to the remainder of the post, below:

1. Yes, Josif is "dear". I am sure some of your netpals regard you the
same way.

2. I am "typical"? Thanks.

3. re: Rhodes - hee hee

4. Josif suggests he as "perturbed" by your "filth". He was not alone
in this feeling. He had no formation of intent. Your posting suggests
that you may have, however.

5. You NOW state you intend no infliction of real harm. Good.

6. I have a book offer on raising and homeschooling children. I'll
finish it one of these days.

7. legal action - He has a federal case, should he wish to pursue it.

8. I suggested what was the relative intellectual level aspired to and
achieved.

9. Vital statistics - I am 5'9", 145 lbs., no testes.

10. D.C. RULZ

11. I have no desire to pursue academe as I prefer the world outside
the same.

12. Greek and Macedonian expressions - ROLF. Comedy was intended, of
course.

13. Relative intellectualism of this netthread - ROLF.

14. re: intimate body part - It was you who suggested doing something
in particular with it.

15. I have never claimed to be "devout". THe rest applies.

16. WHo know the will of God?

17. The poem came to me as an image of Macedonians and Greeks dancing
together, learning harmony through that dance, something like an HOmeric
freize in my mind. Sorry you didn't like it.

18. The entire post I put was an obviously failed attempt to show what
may have been regarded as an actual threatening verbal exchange by some
readers as something less than that, given some knowledge of the
potential participants. It should also be an indication of my dislike
of violence in virtual reality.
