Oh dear. Esperanto. A secret language. In Spain.

Is there a forgery espists wouldn't commit to inflate their own importance?

P.S.: It is also interesting how espists can justify the use of Past Perfect tense in the above phrase. Obviously the language without past perfective tenses is not 'easy' enough.

Your behavior confirms that those were Esperantists whom Orwell has portrayed in his work. In this particular case it's _doublethink_: on the one hand Esperanto is a "living language" (lol) and on the other it is "10 to 20 times easier than French blah blah". Or your outlook on language complexity does spread no further than "invariable roots" and counting morphological forms?

Obviously you cannot explain this. Esperanto has degenerated so much that people use whatever crap their best known Western language uses in that case. But for idiots who are going to study it it has just 16 rules (and 3 tenses) obviously.

Time for your lesson, trollboy. The above is not an example of double think.
"Living language" and "easier" are not contradictions. Here's a definition
from Wikipedia:

"Doublethink is the act of simultaneously accepting two mutually
contradictory beliefs as correct"

And here's an example of double think:

"Esperanto was killed in 1915."

"So Esperanto is now expiring naturally? That's inspiring news."

Of course they are. "Living language" suggests some complex usus traditions, as opposed to "easy" language, which can be learned "as a child's play", which is "immediately understandable to any cultivated person whether or not he has ever heard blah blah" and so on. The contradiction is just glaring.

Also, you cannot inflate the "easiness" to 20 times with "lack of irregular verbs" and "phonetic spelling" and "roots-as-words-which-cannot-be-used-as-actual-words", whatever it was. Some grammar simplifications must be used too, but no one has ever talked about them. One can assume it's another "living", i.e. Average Standard European language with all its intricacies under the wrapper.

> "Esperanto was killed in 1915."
> "So Esperanto is now expiring naturally? That's inspiring news."

You have intentionally omitted "an an international language" part. Now it's expiring as a snake-oil for 101 humankind problems.

> By the way, your last few messages have been particularly nasty.

Some residents stirred up my curiosity by assuming there is something I don't know indeed about Esperanto. But all that something has turned out to be a insubstantial reasoning, bordering on schizophrenia. Maybe, just maybe, a new blood flow to Esperanto evangelists' circle could have prevented that, but it's hard to talk about 'new blood' in the light of the recent events.

A propos de "Past Perfect": En 1944, un soldat américain m'a dit "I had had it".

Or you could just look it up in a dictionary. The actual problem is that no one is "evading" them intentionally, it's just a language being dead. In (improbable) case of Esperanto becoming a living language, it will develop registers and styles and slang as required for human thinking process.

OK. I have two issues with that phrase:

I don't understand why the verb in it is in plusquamperfect (if you don't like English terminology) tense. It is not secondary clause, it is standalone sentence.

I don't understand why the language needs perfective tenses at all. They are an alien concept for me, and require me to have an extensive knowledge of (several!) Western languages to be able to understand and use them properly.

It is a fact, not a prophecy.

Zamenhof killed it himself in his megalomania: in 1887 his project was passable, but he made a fatal error to bring it unchanged (or even actually worsened) into 1905. He closed his eyes at invention of Linotype, radio, sound recording... His flock continued that tradition closing eyes on Pimsleur, offset printing, ASCII, Internet. Esperanto has lost every advantage it had over artlangs like Quenya.

But, of course, wet dreams of revenge are better than working for success.

No. As I said earlier, by 1920 Esperanto had completely lost its future as an actual international language. It became not a meaning of communication, but of separation and attempts to include oneself in some kind of intellectual/progressive elite. There was a relatively short time period at the end of XIX century when there was an actual need in such language, so after its end Esperanto had lost its reason d'etre.

In XX century, Esperanto stood no chance when people had started to actually intercommunicate, discover each others' cultures and learn foreign languages: in their fullest extent, not faceless castrated maims like Esperanto. The teaching had improved, so what a person in Zamenhof's time would have to study for several years, could be studied in a few months. Even school courses started giving intermediate/advance knowledge of the languages. What did Esperanto do to adapt to those changing times? Nothing. Its proponents invent chimerical problems they "intend" to solve as if it was XIX century again.

In any education institution, having only 40% of students passing an evaluation is a mayday. In Esperanto world, it is a norm.

The actual problem is that no one is "evading" them intentionally, it's just a language being dead. In (improbable) case of Esperanto becoming a living language, it will develop registers and styles and slang as required for human thinking process.

We're not discussing 'educational tests', whatever that means.

You wrote "only 40% of students passing an evaluation is a mayday".

JLPT is a standardized evaluation of Japanese proficiency.
Around 40 percent of people writing it each year pass.

This does not represent a failure of Japanese.

For random people from the street. These people were _taught_ Esperanto before 60% of them failed the test.

On a second thought, the comparable results of arch-difficult Japanese and presumably arch-simple Esperanto make a huge breach in your sect arguments.

But there does exist a problem. Your rule #6 says nothing about forms like "est'as am'it'a", "est'is am'at'a", "est'is am'it'a" and how one should use them. Just admit it, you senile clown.

Ili vane kredis trovi ĉe Esperantistoj pli favoran publikon. Ni nur povas kompati.
4) Ĉu iu povas klarigi al mi Esperante, tion kio signifas "had had" en frazo kiel "Those results were obtained after the students had had an Esperanto course." Tiuj rezultoj estis akiritaj post kiam la studentoj havis Esperanto-kurson". Ĉu "estis havitaj" aldonas esencan nuancon aŭ superfluas.
Ĉu "after the students had an E course" estas erara aŭ akceptebla.

What an observation. The participles in other languages must be nouns, or numerals.

That's a typical idiocy of a western person thinking that 'be'+passive participle is a universal way to build a passive voice constructions.

Basically, your "rebuttal" is a word play with no substance in an attempt to hide a laughable truth.

ĝusta traduko de "were obtained". "Estis havitaj" anstataŭ "havis" estus
evidenta eraro, ĉar pasiva anstataŭ aktiva formo. "Estis havintaj" estus nur
superflue longa sinonimo de "havis".

Pri "after the students had an E course" prefere esprimiĝu anglalingvanoj.

tri tempojn: is-, as- kaj os- tempojn.

Most people are not trying to make their hobbyhorse into the mandatory element in governmental and educational institutions. Or stopping schools from teaching (let's say) maths and replacing it with their hobby.

It is not a question of beliefs. The "international" language having about 100,000 proficient speakers after 126 years of development can be criticized objectively.

Of course it was. It was very trendy in earlier XX century, it was widely known and seen as a reliable project. This, by the way, was that that pushed Zamenhof onto a dead track. But of course, that doesn't fit with general propaganda line, as it is impossible to explain why with all XXI century technology it is spoken about much less than a hundred years ago.

That's not precisely what he said, but in any case:

"There are many Arabic loanwords in Persian and many of them have also
brought their plural form (that can be regular or irregular) into written
Persian. However, they are optional and you can use «-hâ» to pluralize
any word. In fact, Arabic plurals are not found in spoken Persian and
words are pluralized with «-hâ». Even in written Persian, the use of Arabic
plurals has greatly decreased in favor of «-hâ»."

Elhana: It is not a question of beliefs. The "international" language having about 100,000 proficient speakers after 126 years of development can be criticized objectively.

Kaj probable devas pasi ankoraŭ multe da tempo ĝis kiam la homaro, ne nur kelkaj idealistoj, akceptos almenaŭ teorie, planlingvon kiel internacia komunikilo.

Elhana: Of course it was. It was very trendy in earlier XX century, it was widely known and seen as a reliable project. This, by the way, was that that pushed Zamenhof onto a dead track.

Oto: Ne.

Elhana: But of course, that doesn't fit with general propaganda line, as it is impossible to explain why with all XXI century technology it is spoken about much less than a hundred years ago.

Oto: Evidente la homaro bezonas pli ol jarcenton por kompreni ke artefarita lingvo funkcias tute same kiel tradicia lingvo. Fakte, ne ekzistas lingvo kiu ne havas artefaritajn elementojn.

> Oto: Vi diris ke ĝi jam mortis ĉar nuntempe ĉiuj povas facile lerni fremdajn lingvojn.

Elhana: No. It has died because it was not needed anymore.

Oni devas havi paciencon. Unue aŭ poste homoj komprenos kio estas Esperanto.

Elhana: P.S. Pirone should have spend more time working on his abysmal accent instead of writing laughable articles like that one.

Oto: Kial vi ne aŭdigas al ni vian anglan prononcon kiel faris Mihajlenko pri lia Esperanta prononco? Ĉu vi timas ke ĝi povus esti eĉ pli "abysmal" ol tiu de Pirone?

Any cultivated person knows that Esperanto is "an artificial language for international communication". Espists are trying not to notice the lack of consequences coming from this knowledge.

> Ĉu almenaŭ unu el tiuj 300 planlingvaj projektoj havis pli da sukceso ol Esperanto? Kompreneble ne.

Because all of them are similarly useless, Esperanto wins here as the first player on the market. The only language it defeated in fair competition was Volapük, and that was more than a hundred years ago. All the following Esperanto 'victories' were over chimaeras existing only in its proponents' minds.

> Elhana: ...it was widely known and seen as a reliable project. This, by the way, was that that pushed Zamenhof onto a dead track.
> Oto: Ne. Tion faris la unua mondmilito...

The Fundamento, which shows the depth of Zamenhof's errors (and possibly his madness, as I'm not an expert on this) is dated 1905. That predates WWI.

> Oto: Evidente la homaro bezonas pli ol jarcenton por kompreni ke artefarita lingvo funkcias tute same kiel tradicia lingvo. Fakte, ne ekzistas lingvo kiu ne havas artefaritajn elementojn.

It does not. The plan languages can only be toys, replicas of real languages with limited applicability. Only a natural language can find the response in hearts of the people. Espists talking about adequacy of a toy language are sounding as ridiculous as people practicing blood transfusions being ignorant to groups or Rh-factor.

Huh?

> La bezono de facila internacia komunikilo ekzistas sed averaĝa homo sentas tiun bezonon nur kiam ŝi-li troviĝas eksterlande kaj rimarkas ke ne kapablas interparoli.

And the answer has already been found: in a natural language.

> Ŝtataj helpoj al esperantistoj ne estis tute seninteresaj.

That's what it always boils down to. Completely unable to compete on fair grounds, Espists are trying to get some gendarmes to spread their 'hobbyhorse' with a stick.

In exactly same proportion as a number of people who has dumped it.

The only thing that keeps Esperanto going is a sect consisting from pederasts and other strange people whose number doesn't exceed 1-2% in any population.

The language detached from society cannot develop.

It seems you don't understand a difference between 'speaking' a language and knowing it as a foreign. Point me at three generations of people speaking Esperanto and Esperanto only in their social life, and I will have to accept that it is a living language. Otherwise, any language with 50 speakers in some remote village has immeasurably greater significance for a humankind than it.

Elhana aucune langue vivante.

Great.

Quote:

"Nowadays, the term English as a Lingua Franca (ELF) is used to refer
to the English variety spoken by people whose mother tongue is not
English (Firrth 1996,: Seidlhofer 2001)

The use or adoption of English in international settings, however,
may pose both linguistic and clutural problems especially for
non-native speaker. Futhermre, in the specific context of Business
Communication the correct use of English plays a significant role in
terms of accents or pronunciation as well as grammar and functions,
could reate communication problems and even misunderstanding".

English along with many other languages isn't static. It is evolving

Quite often on television in Australia the stations provide captions

For those who may be wondering what this means, our resident

Gesheft is the Yiddish word for business. It seems that trollboy

nomvortojn kaj verbojn. Tiurilate Esperanto estas centelcente regula kaj
konsiderinde pli facile lernebla. Evidente li lernas tiel malrapide, ke
li ankoraŭ post tri sensukcesaj jaroj ne renkontis tiun por li apenaŭ
supereblan malfacilaĵon.

Ĉiuj "men," "women," "children," kaj "wives" atestas kontraŭ li, kaj

Words like '[ml]ouse' are not even in the first 5000 words. Their existence is not significant.

The praising of 'regularity' (especially in terms of forms produced by invariable affixes) is the first sign of mechanistic approach to it, popular in XIX century. In XX century, people realized that regularity means different things for humans and machines, so appealing to it today looks at least strange.

If you have a problem with regularity, I suggest you eat fruit.

Oto: Jen kial estas kredeble ke Esperanto estas eĉ 20-foje pli facila ol ĉiu ajn lingvo.

Oto: Jes.

Fartu bone Victor!

Ankaŭ verda salato kaj fibroriĉaj legomoj same helpas.

Eĉ tiu lasta nuanco estas negativa, ĉar temas pri 'tro abunda,'
'embarasa riĉeco de'.

Ne gravas la rango. Gravas la uzotereno, ekz. komputilado, kie ties
ofteco estas unuaranga. Ankaŭ en infanvartado: "Three Blind Mice".

Nia pajaca antisemita mensogema pederasta nefierinda parazita samsektano
