Hi All,

Are there any people in Egypt, that can be called direct descendents of the
Ancient Egytians? Ethnically that is?

Also what exactly are Hamitic people?

Thanks.

May the peace of God be with you;
Mark 1:14-15
Now after that John was put in prison, Jesus came into
Galilee, preaching the gospel of the kingdom of God,
And saying, The time is fulfilled, and the kingdom of
God is at hand: repent ye, and believe the gospel.

Modern Egyptians.

A people who speak a Hamitic language (i.e., Omotic, Chadic, Cushite,
Berber, and Ancient Egyptian-Coptic).

And there is a chance that your mama was cleaning their floors.

And what does it explain.

Cleopatra (the last one) was Greek by blood. She was not Egyptian. Most
Egyptians are decendents of fellah of the ancient culture. Very few are
decendents of Pharaoh or the upper classes. However, there is a small
chance...and that is why Egyptians are proud.

Hi All
My young son ( aged 9 )has a school project on ancient Egyptian Gods.
It would give me great pleasure If any of you could give me some help in
helping him start his project. I have no knowledge on this subject myself
but would like to be able to help him get started.

Please remove the second "x" from my email address if you want to email me

Here is the Egyptian myths of creation. Herodotus described the
Egyptians as the most obsessively religious people he knew, and it is
amply supported by the number of gods encountered in the ancient
Egyptian documents, even the Nile was at one time considered as a god.
One myth focusing on the origins of the gods themselves relates that the
sun god Ra (or Ra-Atum) formed himself out of the waters of chaos, or
unformed matter, emerging from them seated atop a mound of sand hardened
by his own rays. By spitting he then created the gods wetness and
dryness, Tefnut and Shu, who in turn begat the male Geb (earth) and the
female Nut (sky). Geb and Nut produced 2 sons, Osiris and Seth (the gods
of good and evil respectively) and 2 daughters, Isis and Nephthys.
Taking Isis as his wife, Osiris became king of Egypt. His envious
brother Seth promptly killed Osiris and hacked his body to pieces,
snatching the throne for himself. Isis and her sister gathered up the
scattered remains and with the help of the god Anubis patched Osiris
back together. Despite her husband's mutilated condition, Isis somehow
managed to conceive a son, Horus. Once Horus was on the scene he
defeated Seth and became king of the Earth, while Osiris retired to the
underworld as overseer of the realm of the dead.

For the creation of human beings. It is said that Ra once lost an eye.
Unperturbed, he replaced it with a new one. When the old eye was found
and brought back to him, it began to cry angered that it was no longer
of any use. Human beings were born from its tears. On the other hand the
people of Memphis insisted that it was their local god Ptah who created
mankind having formed them on his potter's wheel.

Hope that helped.

Ancient Egyptians believed that the gods were manifestations of one God.
Their religion is considered a polythiestic monad, somewhat similar to
Hinduism today. The manifestation of this one God was found in its varied
forms within the Pharoah who was considered the god Horus incarnate. The
Egyptians were the only people in the Middle East and Europe (with the
exception of maybe the Etruscans?) who believed that their leader was a
God.
