Henry Darger's watercolors that are featured in the exhibition
"Disasters of War" are illustrations to a 15,000 page text he
wrote on an imaginary war between the Vivan Girls and the evil
Glandolinians. Every half hour, a performer will guide visitors
through the show by reciting memorized excerpts from the manuscript,
and giving a "docent tour" of the works in Darger's own (often
eccentric) words.

Emerging artists featured in the opening exhibition "Some New Minds,"
John Pilson and James Yamada, are in conversation with independent
curator Omar Lopez-Chahoud. This panel is the first in a series of

Dear collegues!
The Kaliningrad Branch of the National Center for Contemporary Art invites you
to take part in the Open Social Network Art Project "ART OF TORTURES AND EXECUTIONS
- ART AGAINST TORTURES AND EXECUTIONS". The Kaliningrad Branch of the National Center
for Contemporary Art was established by the Ministry of Culture of the Russian Federation
in December, 1997 as museum and exhibition, as well as a scientific-research state
organisation realising projects and programs within contemporary arts in western Russia’s
enclave and outside its borders.
The main reason for a realisation of the project is fact, that in Russia the mortal
execution is stipulated by the Criminal Code of Russian Federation as a maximum capital
punishment. And only in connection with an entrance of Russian Federation to Council of
Europe the President B. Yeltsin has signed the moratorium about temporary cancellation of
a capital punishment in Russia. Moreover, the mortal execution as a maximum capital punishment
is topical on a boundary of centuries for the large number of countries (USA, China, Chile, Cuba,
Algeria, Japan, Yugoslavia, Guatemala, Morocco, Kyrgyzstan, Somalia, Afghanistan, Congo, Iran,
Iraq, Tunis, Thailand, Turkmenistan, India, Egypt and etc.), despite of perfection of the law acts,
technical progress, freedom of the press, creeds and word of expression.
For more information please write to: mailto:cen...@ncca.koenig.su
