Subject: 1994 World Curling Championships : Oberstdorf, Germany
Like 1993 in Geneva, Switzerland, Canada took the Women's and Men's
titles in a doubleheader sweep today in Oberstdorf, Germany.

WOMENS' FINAL

The reigning Canadian and World champion Sandra Peterson rink from Regina
successfully defended their title by defeating Scotland with a 5-3 score.

        Scotland        001 010 001 x           3

MENS' FINAL

After a 14 year drought, Rick Folk of Kelowna won the Labatt Brier in March
and the World championship today by defeating Sweden 3-2 in a very close game.
Rick Folk last won the Brier and the World title from the province
of Saskatchewan.  This year's winning rink included vice-skip Pat Ryan
who skipped an Alberta rink to the 1989 Brier and World titles.
