BANGKOK, Dec. 28 (Xinhua) -- Thailand's repatriation of Hmong from
a refugee camp in a northern province of Phetchabun to Laos was going
on smoothly, Thailand's Prime Minister Abhisit Vejjajiva disclosed
here Monday.

There was no resistance from the Hmong refugees against the
repatriation, which has been managed by the Thai government, Thai News
Agency quoted the Thai leader as saying.

Laos has guaranteed that the living standard of the Hmong people
in Laos will be improved after the repatriation from Phetchabun,
Abhisit said.

The Thai government early Monday morning began to deport the
over-4,000 ethnic Hmong in Phetchabun to Laos as it is expected the
repatriation will be completed by the end of the day.

The move to clear the Huay Nam Khao refugee camp in Phetchabun
began at 5:30 a.m. local time (2230 GMT Sunday), carried out by about
5,000 soldiers, officials and assisting civilian volunteers.

After the repatriation, the empty camp is to be formally closed
soon.

Col.Thana Charuwat, coordinator of the operation, said the
soldiers were unarmed, but equipped with shields and batons to prevent
violent resistance by some Hmong who may refuse to be deported.

Dear Paxason and all friends,

Nobody shuld prevent the innoncent kids to go back home and be back to
school. Lets go beyon the interest of few groups which want to
blackmail those poor innoncent families as human shield to pledge for
their own interest.

Lets also not let the criminals groups let by VP to play around with
this issue... The life and future of 4000 over lifes are too precious
to let this criminal VP blackmail the whole pocess.

This shoud be considered as a good news for all of us who care for
thoe innoncent lifes.

I'm very happy that no one got hurt in the process. I know this isn't
the end of the story, because there's people out there who will refuse
to let this be the end.

2010 is a brand new year and I wish all of the returnees a Happy and
better New Year. Good luck and peace be with you all.

I agree with you. I wonder why lao government refuse to let vp go to
lao to end this crisis. The end of the old branch can let the new
branch grow perfect.

Here again I uphold my support like before for the repatriation of all
these misled Hmong people from the dead end of those unwanted camps. I
do hope that this wish fulfillment could be the last nail hammered
into the coffin of this long-drained cold war legacy. However, this
coffin can’t be yet buried until those jungle Hmong be brought out and
pacified into the whole community of the nation. As far as the
assessment goes, this task could not have been achieved without the
close cooperation from Thailand that surely covered the most of the
contingencies, but the next move toward those jungle people remains
somewhat a mystery because without any apparent clear policy on how
Thanouxay is going to apprehend it this time under his watch alone.
Therefore I wish him a lot of luck…It’s all worth to be celebrated
when all brothers and sisters in all walk of ethnicity can be
gradually re-united henceforth.

All friends,
I feel a lot relief now. I hope the LPDR keeps it's promise for the
safety of these victims. Belief it or not, this mess costs every
parties including the victims (illegal immigrants), LPDR, Thailand,
the general Hmong one way or another. It has definitely cost me nearly
a thousand dollar so far, and is expected to cost more in the near
future.

HL, the true victims are the kids who get pulled around and jerked
around. The kids who were denied proper guidance, education, normal
growth and development both physically and mentally.

Not trying to overlook your loss, but your money is easily
recuperated. The years and lost time for these kids will have an
everlasting effect on them and their future.

Dear Vannasay,

Do not be concerned with regard to those who are in the jungle... We
didn't wait for those in Thailand to come back to address this issue.
Be informed that 98% are already out and they are well taken care of.
We will continue to work with the rest to bring them out for good and
will help them our utmost to renormalise their life and tutor them to
live like common citizen. As of today we have built, ten development
villages and they seem to be doing well.
