Japanese American Mirai Nagasu[1], 16, from
Arcadia, California, in a surprise win, finished
first in the US Figure Skating Championship
short program (70.06 points) being held at
Spokane, Washington beating out the mass
media favorite Sasha Cohen (69.63 points)
and Rachael Flatt (69.35 points). All three
will be in a strong position in Saturday's
free skate and be on the 2010 Olympic team.
