The Asian American Theater Company presents an evening of two one-act
plays by Korean American writers. Diana Son=EDs R.A.W. (=EBCause I=EDm a Wo=
man)
is a search for an Asian American female identity, an abstract portrait
of four very different Raunchy Asian Women: an assimilated preppie, a
personals ads survivor, a frustrated lesbian, and a bourbon-swilling
romantic whose American language cannot express her Korean heart.
Yongsoo Park=EDs Free Country takes a gritty snapshot at the lives of three
Korean American brothers in Queens struggling to hold their family
together after the murder of their parents. The oldest brother, Jason,
who sells fake designer watches at the subway, sets off a powder keg when
he flushed the youngest brother=EDs drug stash down the toilet. Come check
out the action from January 9 - 19, 1997.
