[03] "Mediterranea 1", new horizon in Albania-Italian relations
TIRANE, Nov 7 (ATA)-By E.Riza, K.Shehu, Cultural activity "Mediterranea 1",
which aims at affirming Albanian and Italian artists in both countries,
opened in the National History Museum in Tirane on Saturday evening, in the
presence of President of the Republic Rexhep Meidani, Italian ambassador
Marcello Spatafora as well as other cultural figures.
Present at the ceremony were Albanian renowned painter Ibrahim Kodra,
Albanian renowned writer Ismail Kadare as well as the initiator of this
activity, renowned Italian painter Gaetano Grillo.
The activity is held under the auspices of Albanian and Italian Presidents,
Rexhep Meidani and Oscar Luigi Scalfaro, respectively, the Albanian
Ministry of Culture, Italian Foreign Ministry, Italian Cultural Institute
in Tirane, in cooperation with the "Velija" Foundation and Cultural
Association "Mediterranea".
"Mediterranea 1" will mainly concentrate on visual arts and literature.
Painter Ibrahim Kodra will present in this activity a full collection of
his work selected in various periods of his creativeness.
Likewise 30 Italian painters of world fame and 13 Albanian painters will
present their works.
Some 20 Albanian and 31 Italian poets will present their poems in this
activity.
A special place will also be devoted to the multimedia technology which
will be realised by "Comunicare S.R.L", a company which will later offer
the preparation of a CD-Rom of all this broad activity. The activity will
also be mirrored in a 350-page volume translated in both languages.
According to Grillo "this activity aims at laying the foundations for a
permanent cultural manifestation to be held one in two years. /pas/lm/
