Vicente Chavez-Elizalde (left) and Ramon E. Chavez, are accused in a fatal
hit-and-run crash.
Felony arrest warrants have been issued for two brothers accused of fleeing
from a fatal hit and run accident Oct. 26.
Ramon E. Chavez, 29, has been identified as the driver of the Dodge Ram that
ran a red light at 42nd and Q Streets just before 1:30 a.m., striking an
Oldsmobile and killing 27-year-old Ronald E. Rydberg. Chavez is wanted for
leaving the scene of a property damage accident and motor vehicle homicide.
His brother, Vicente Chavez-Elizalde, 30, is wanted for being an accessory
to a felony.
Flor Campos, 24, was arrested last week for being an accessory to a felony
for driving Ramon Chavez to Kansas City, where officials say he intended to
board a bus bound for Mexico.
The brothers, who ran from the accident scene, still have not been located.
Authorities said Monday that Ramon Chavez might be in Texas and Vicente
Chavez-Elizalde possibly could still be in the metro area.
Anyone with information about the crash is urged to contact the Accident
Investigation Squad at 444-5627. Crime Stoppers can be contacted anonymously
by calling 444-7867 (STOP), online at www.omaha-crimestoppers.net, or by
