Weddings aren't cheap. . .no more are their mothers isn't putting on
the party. . .or her sister sewing the dress. . .it's a business --
BIG business. . .
When I used to be in 'the biz' (videographer with a 'major minor' in
photo), vendors used to try to get 'bragging rights' by saying that
"their brides" spent the most amount of money on their vend than any
other. . .
Since weddings cost so much now, we now have a new 'animal', it's
called the "BRIDEZILLA" (http://images8.cafepress.com/product/
12635208v2_150x150_Front.jpg)...this thing from the very pit of hell
started to become a thorn in all of our sides (posters, vendors,
lurkers, etc.) within the past ten years...the industry now prices
their product to not only take as much money as they can from the free-
for-all, they also add money in order to take into account the
"trouble-factor" (I've heard it called worse, but I've always promised
never to use words like here) that these "BRIDEZILLA's" cause...
Make no mistake, the wedding industry helped create these monsters by
charging as much as they think they can legally get away with and it
also didn't help that our society taught these little vixens that it
was 'their day', so they could be as mean and disgusting as they
wanted to be, because they wouldn't be able to do that again...at
least until they got married again...
My suggestion is for the father to shop around for a better price, try
to smooze a friend to buy a 'celebrant' for next to nothing...or go to
the JOP...
If your friend really wants to save some money, Sears usually has a
sale on 24-foot ladders that he can offer to let her boyfriend use and
then he'll have something that he can use over and over again, knowing
how Sears & Roebuck saved him money many times over. . .
