Dear All,

I am a confused undergrad in his second year at Imperial College studying
Computing. Now, I would like to do a Masters degree in a management topic
in the US.

I need some help here though, as I am not sure where to apply and what the
procedure is! What are GREs, how important is the class of degree I obtain
from here? When do I need to apply? etc.

Don't forget I have no knowledge of the system at all, so please don't
assume to much!

Thanks a bundle

(1) You need to take the GMAT test in stead of GRE if you are
planning to do MBA in US. If you are aimimg at top ranked
schools, you should target at a score of 650 or high in the
GMAT test. You may choose to start preparations for the test,
sending requests for forms (both to ETS and business schools)
etc. approximately one year before you want to enter the
program. (to be on the safer side, since you're overseas).
E.g, if one plans to enter
a program in fall 94, then one may start preparations from
august/sept 93 and plan to take the test around Dec 93.

(2) Previous work experience is always preferred and is
considered a positive aspect in the selection process
for MBA applicants. (Does not necessarily mean you will
be denied otherwise, but it is an added advantage, especially
for top schools).

(3) To give a rough idea about the overall standings of MBA schools
in the US, I'm posting a ranking of top 25 schools. The actual
quality of the programs and reputation etc, however, depends
upon the accuracy of the way the survey was conducted to determine these
rankings. That's why I term this as an approximate ranking.
