I believe the Chronicle of Higher Education publishes fairly frequent
surveys of graduate departments.

That being said, I'm not sure you understand how graduate students
pick their programs in the U.S. Normally, applicants will have picked
a concentration area for their studies (later to evolve into their
dissertation subject) and will look for specific professors in the
same field, whose work they admire, with whom to study.
