how good would you place Canada in the world with regards to university
education in art, architecture and design ?

No comparable Canadian equivalent exists for the likes of Pratt, Yale,
School of the Art Institute of Chicago, RISD, RIT, CalArts, Harvard
GSD, Alfred, etc., etc.

You didn't ask, but same goes for music and the dramatic arts:
Juilliard, Berklee, Northwestern, Peabody, Eastman, Indiana, Michigan,
Curtis, Manhattan School of Music, Oberlin, Cincinnati, Yale, Johns
Hopkins, UCLA, USC, SUNY Purchase, NYU Tisch.

how about UK schools ?
I was wondering how people would see UK to US

Or is it that the ultimatum is still US ?

Depends on what you want to study.

I wouldn't mind Cambridge/Imperial for the pure and applied sciences.
Neither for the liberal arts.
