Can't figure out how to make "real word" snip

I am new to snipurl. I want to make a snip that ends in a real word,
like,

snipurl.com/word

NOT something like snipurl.com/xu5tz

I have tried using the "Optional" info fields to accomplish this, but
it never does work. It still just generates the default garbage-type
ending.

I'm apparently not understanding something about how to do what I want
to do. Snipurl indicates that it's possible to have spipurl.com/word
(for example), but I can't find the instructions to do it. (Yes, I've
read the FAQ).

As the FAQ states you can just use the nickname "word".

On the snipurl.com main page, look for the nickname field on the
right. That's where you enter it.

If you use our browser shortcut, which is the smarter way of snipping
URLs, then the nickname field similarly pops up in the snipped URL
window.

and if the word you want is not available,
you can put in two words with a dot in between to separate them.

Let us say you want the word "chair" and it is taken,
[actually it was taken years ago and no longer properly resolves]
use "the.chair" as your desired nickname
