jerkier after it's been open for a while?

It happens immediately.
It looks to me to have to do with the grid - but that might just be a
visual illusion.
Do you have back versions I could test?

Just one other observation, on my Windows XP box, firefox takes 98%
of the CPU time when I go to the web site.
Has it always done this? This could be another symptom of the same problem.
