Howdy,

Welp, found me one Oyler in Austin...a 1987 rig.  they're asking 9K.  Maybe I'll grab it, who knows?

But I'm thinking of taking a few days to go back east for some real southern chopped hog and some ribs.  NC, SC, visit BeeJay and meet his critters and main squeeze,  and maybe fly out of hotlanta.  Could maybe have 8-10 Q meals on the trip.  So, if I can swing it, I'd love to get some "must haves" for this neck of the woods.  I'd be dam excited to do this.

I would second that. Also Lexington #1, Skylight Inn, Wilbur's and Allen & Son in NC.

Skylight inn. Bees in Greenville is good also but skylight is a must.

Pete’s in Ayden, NC is a must.  I enjoyed Wilbur’s in Goldsboro too.  In South Carolina, Henry’s Smokehouse in Greenville, along with the ribs at Mutt’s.  In the center of the state, and the only must stop in SC is Sweatman’s.  Then, on the coast where there is another almost must stop at Scott’s in Hemingway.  Columbia is king for Mustard Sauce and the most popular is Bessinger’s although I think Jackie Hite’s is better.  If you are coming to Charleston, there is good BBQ but I would wouldn’t waste a day here chasing it.  There are just too many great restaurants in Charleston to waste time on BBQ.
