Contrary to what I said a couple of weeks ago, I'm just now getting
around to my first cook using the Smokenator on my Weber Kettle. I'm
doing one butt and a bit over an hour into the cook, the thermometer
is spot on 230F.

Had a little drama at the start, due to my negligence. I didn't have
the coal grill firmly on the pegs in the kettle and when I added the
hot coals to the Smokenator, things went a bit tits up. I quickly put
the coals back into the chimney using my grill tongs, got things set
back up properly and loaded it back up. All seems to be working
satisfactorily.

About time to go watch a little March Madness, then cut the grass.

Its a gorgeous, gorgeous day here in West Central Alabama.

Same here in Indiana. Keep us up on the Smokenator.

Scot,

You realize, I'm still holding you responsible for the outcome on the Smokenator ;-)

Same in south central Michigan. Yesterday was particularly beautiful until
the tornados came. The nearest the storms got to me was about 2 miles, but
just south of here, there was a lot of damage. One touched down within 1/4
mile of my friend's house before skipping over it. This is the earliest in
the season that a series of tornados has hit in Michigan. Unlike those in
the plains states, ours tend to be pinpoint strikes with it not being
unusual for a home to be flattened with the one next door untouched. A total
of over 100 homes were totally destroyed or damaged beyond repair. There was
also extensive hail damage, but again we were sparred. There is also flood
damage in some areas as over 4 inches of rain fell in less than a half hour
onto already wet ground.

One of the nice things about living in our part of Montana is that tornadoes are few and far between.  We've had two here in my lifetime.  One in 1956 and the other a couple of years ago.  We could see the 8 or 9 miles to the storm from my house and figured that was close enough.  It was the first time I'd ever heard warning sirens outside of their regular checkups.
