A tax client just sent me a bottle of Hyde Park Seasoning and another of Chicago Steak Seasoning, both from The Spice House.  Can anyone tell me anything about these blends?

Check out www.thespicehouse.com for descriptions and to reorder if you like them.  I'm a Penzy's guy, so I don't know their products, but these look kind of interesting.

I don't know the blend but I have ordered from The Spice House. The product was good but they will hound you to death with emails and ads. So I stick with Penzey's myself.

think Penzeys and The Spice House are branches of the same family--iirc---all those blends are usually tasty on one meat or another--like different BBQ rubs.  Then all of a sudden there are approx 34 different bottles of stuff in the spice closet--and thats not counting bbq stuff or just normal spices....  I succumb to the sales pitch buy the bottle, like it, it goes on the shelf---sometimes all the bottles may get combined and used or even more likely the seasonings just get tossed and the bottles go in that big bag down on a basement shelf!!

Only 34?  I've got to have at least that many bottles and jars!

Same family, but two very different business models when it comes to
providing service and knowledge. Staff at the Spice House know their
stuff and are a huge help if YOU do not! They will help you with
recipes, creating blends, custom grinding, or even give you very small
amounts of items with a short shelf life. The staff at my Penzeys are
helpful, but often have to refer to info cards. I shop at both and
much prefer The Spice House. They also sell Gary's rub, so they must be
good people! :)
