I built this hi temp steak cooker several years back and just brought it back into the shop for a face lift and paint job and I added some casters to the legs this time.  The fire pit is an 18'' XXHVY pipeline weld cap and weighs just at 100 lbs.  I also bought a ''surprize pack'' at an auction and it had about 150 assorted casters in it.

This cooker was built for one reason only.  To cook Rib Eye Steaks, hot and fast and it works perfect for that.  I had the idea in my head for years and finally gotroundtoit.  The 5'' up-draft dampner in the bottom allows an air flow to come from below to the lump that is on a grid so that air can get to it.  If it gets too hot I have a flap that I can close to cool it down. [a little]  It works on the same principle as a blacksmiths forge.

The little cookers name is ''The Henry G. Hobbs Ceremonial Rib Eye Steak Cooker''.  My friend, Henry G. Hobbs had a heart attack several years back and we didn't think he would make it.  Well, he did.  I was building the cooker at the time and thought that i would name it after him and call it the H.G. Hobbs Memorial Rib Eye Steak Cooker.  When he pulled through I had to change da name.  Will post some pic's of da rib eyes later.

A good question John.  I had bought da pig about 5 years earlier at a garage sale for 25¢.  He was part of an El Cheepo plant hanger stand thingie and I had nothing else to use it on at the time.  Us Deep East Texas boys are known for workin' wid what we got on hand.  My total out of pocket expence for this cooker was about 3 bucks as I chose to use storebout handles insted of home made ones for some reason.  I'm just glad that I had an iron pig and not a poodle........
