SMDMS 2012 batch to start

Hi All, 

I hope every one is enjoying their personal and professional commitments. It's been almost an year since this group was started.

Just saw an ad on Linkedin, which says sales and marketing course is being conducted once again in 2012. I would like to know how many of us would really advise someone to take this course???

A simple yes/no or a line or two will help in understanding the response.

Expecting a response from every one.

Hi Everyone! I have been a silent member of this group for the last 1 year. I was selected for the sales and marketing course last year but did not join it because of some financial issue. I have also been reading all your views and post discussed during and after the course. I appeared for the exam and interview for this course again last Saturday and got selected yet the process of selection was just a formality like it happened last year- you gotta trust me on that! Friend, I really need your suggestion and advice regarding this course ....Is the course really worth going for? They have increased the fee from 30,000 last year to 40,000 this year and even I had purchased the form in double the amount from last year. This time they have internship opportunity with a chance to get PPO unlike last year where placement assistance was provided (I know  the kind of assistance given and the package offered last year from all your discussions.) Do you think that they can provide the internship in some good firms or atleast in some average ones this year... since the fee has increased so are there any chances that assistance would be the real assistance. They have also mentioned that an opportunity to do internship in good public and private sector companies..how trust worthy this could be?

40,000 is a hefty amount for me and I really have to work my ass off to pay that amount and as I stay in Gurgaon so spending almost 50K for this 2 months course is really a sensible decision or not considering the changes this year?

Tomorrow is the day to pay the fee so please do share some insights ....thanks!

@vaibhav: I'll recommend this course to people for sure. Purely because it helps in building a network. For me it also meant getting a look into basics of sales and marketing. It might not be the best option for someone who's looking to gain out of professionally even though some of us did. It's not a substitute for an MBA. They can maybe structure it better.

@aman: the course was great for me but, I wasn't looking for a professional opportunity after the course. Whether the placement assistance will be better, only time can tell. Spending the money is a big deal but, whether you benefit or not depends entirely on you. They do provide a faculty which is good. So learn as much as you can if you decide to join.

hi aman,

if you are not working anywhere and belong to technical profile then you shall do this course no second thought. as the tech ppl do have very hard time dealing with business aspects.

if you are working somewhere then if it is a sales profile then you should do this course no second thought as you will be investing 1.5 months and 40-45K but education is priceless and what you will get will last forever.

if you are in another profile and looking for jobs n stuff then its upon you i cant say how good was n will be the job n PPO's 

if you look this course from a networking point of view then it will be a great course, you will get access to IIM IIT AIM graduates and people who have taught and worked in big names.

as kshitij said its upon you how much you grab from course, how seriously you take the assignments and attend classes do networking and grab from the course.

i hope it helped and dont worry about the date of cheque, last year we payed in cheque and till the end of the course they weren't cleared, if we wanted we could have done it for free...LOL

Plus IIT certificate is good to add in profile. i came for that frankly and got much much more. the certificate is somewhere in drawer.
