Subject: 51st Independence Anniversary Message

Fellow Sierra Leoneans, I wish
you all a happy 51st Independence anniversary. May the good lord
continue to bless us, guide us and sustain the peace we’ve enjoyed these past
years.
As we look forward to a brighter
future for Sierra Leone, let us remember that it would not come about without
each and everyone of us playing a role in the new vision for our great nation.
Never should we allow our future, and the future of generations yet unborn, to
be stolen away from us again, while we sit by in silence. God has given us a
great gift, of a great nation called Sierra Leone; endowed with everything
mankind may ask for. Let us appreciate God’s gift, by protecting the treasures
in the Gift box, with every fiber of our being and never allow outsiders to
steal its contents, while we continue to remain poor, in a sea of wealth.
God has already defined a brighter
future for our great nation. The power to transform our fortunes for the
benefit of all Sierra Leoneans, and not just a few Sierra Leoneans and their
alien cohorts is in our hands. Let us show LOVE for Sierra Leone, by promoting
peace; let us show LOVE for Sierra Leone, by being civil and objective in our
political discourse, while we still maintain our rights to speak out against
corruption, hate, nepotism, injustice and the excesses of those  entrusted to lead our nation. Speak out, or
else we would repeat the mistakes of the past. Let’s show LOVE for Sierra
Leone, by loving our fellow Sierra Leoneans. Let us just LOVE everything about
SL, and you would be blessed with the vision to see a brighter future beyond
the limits of ordinary eyes. You would have the WILL to appreciate God for his
love for us.  As we look forward to a
brighter future, let us thank God for the life of our National heroes, whose
foot steps we want to follow, and whose legacies we must uphold. Once more I
hereby wish you all a happy anniversary in the spirit of  the first Freedom fighters in SL’s history Sengbeh
Pieh, the hero of the Amistad revolt, the great Morea Sosso scholar Foday Tarawally,
Bai Bureh the warrior of the Hut tax war,  the great Shebro King Bai Shebra Kpana Lewis,
Madam Yoko the great Queen of the Kpaa Mendes, Almamy Suluku the great Krugba
of the Biriwa Limbas, Manga Sewa, the proud Yalunka king of Falaba, the brave Foamansa
Matturi of the Konos, and of course not forgetting the great King Maker of
Samu, Samu Dondoli and Haidara Kontofili of Bubuya. In recent history, we would
also like to commend the work of HE Sir Milton Margai, Madam Ella Koblo Gulama,
for upholding the legacy of Madam Yoko by proving to the women of Sierra Leone
that they have as much right to lead as their male counterparts; Dr John
Karefa-Smart an outstanding diplomat and one of the architects of our
independence, the legendary Edward Akar the ambassador a great pioneer and
composer of our national anthem and a lot more of our unsung heroes. MAY GOD
BLESS US ALL.       LONG LIVE SIERRA
LEONE.        HAPPY INDEPENDENCE TO YOU
ALL.Jesmed F Suma.

A quick correction I meant to say John Akar as opposed to Edward Akar.
