Hello Friends,

 

While the National Organization of Sierra Leoneans in North America (NOSLINA) is engaged in several worthwhile ventures, we are taking the liberty of bringing you up-to-date about the NOSLINA Mohammed Sadu Bah Law Scholarship because we need your help.

One year ago, NOSLINA started the Mohammed Sadu Bah Law School Scholarship at the University of Sierra Leone's School of Law as a way to honor one of the Organization's founding members and first Legal Counsel - the late, great Attorney Mohammed Sadu Bah.  And, while we are proud to report that the scholarship program has been a great success, we want to sponsor more students!

 

As you already may be aware, a HUGE entertainment event is about to take place: C&C Promotions' Celebrating Sierra Leone Musicians Tour featuring: Emmerson; Afro National; Daddy Ramanu; and Ahmed Janka Nabay and the Bubu Gang.

 

President of C&C Promotions (sponsor of the show) Mr. Mohammed Kosia, has stated that a percentage of proceeds from VIP ticket sales for the event will be donated to NOSLINA's Mohammed Sadu Bah Scholarship Fund.  NOSLINA is most appreciative and humbled by this incredibly generous offer.

 

How can you help?  Come to the Show, which will take place on Sunday, May 26, 2013, in Silver Spring, MD.  (This is Memorial Day weekend and for many of us, Monday will be a holiday.)  On behalf of NOSLINA and the students who will benefit from this worthwhile venture, I am extending this invitation to you to attend as a VIP guest. 

 

VIP tickets - which are not available online - are $65.00 each and include preferred and guaranteed seating, as well as complimentary hors d'oeuvre and drinks.

The Journal of Human Rights Law is a legal Journal. We welcome the submission of empirical articles for the year 2013/2014.
Our journal has a quick review and publication process, as papers will published within 30 days of submission.
Authors are invited to read our call for papers, and to submit complete unpublished empirical research that is not under review in any other conference or academic journal.

Scholars and practitioners are invited to submit articles for JHRL-SL Journal’s Issue No. 1, to be published in December 2013, with a focus on human rights law in Sierra Leone.
This program is initiated by Lawyers for Human Rights- Sierra Leone, and the Society for Democratic Initiatives, Sierra Leone and the Sierra Leone Bar Association. The goal of this program is to strengthen the work of academic and human rights activists through the promotion of a high-quality debate on human rights issues, primarily with a Sierra Leonean perspective. Contributions from other parts of the world, however, are also welcome, especially if they are relevant for the theory and practice of human rights in Sierra Leone.
JHRL-SL welcomes articles that explore the relationship between other strands of law and human rights in different contexts in Sierra Leone, including analyses on how legislative and institutional frameworks shape constitutionalism and human rights decision-making processes, especially within Sierra Leonean law and particularly with respect to emerging and rising powers in government.

We will also welcome articles related to human rights law in Sierra Leone, or international human rights law that is relevant to Sierra Leone. This may include constitutional law, human rights law, criminal law, etc. Examples of potential submissions include case studies or case reviews of human rights violations in Sierra Leone.

Submissions should be approximately 3500 words in length, but should not exceed 5000 words plus notes and references. Articles should be your own original work. The Electronic Tracking Device (ETD) will be used to determine originality of papers published. Any article found to violate intellectual ethical rules will not be considered.

Legal citations should follow the Oxford Standard for Citation of Legal Authorities (OSCOLA).
