Subject: Eat Hawaii Island Grown is over-the-top in October
Hi Everyone,

There are lots of plans falling into place for the "fall harvest" time
- and Nan has been cranking overtime with her crew to kick off the
best October harvest celebration ever.

>From the kick-off event of Taste of the Hawaiian Range on Sept. 28th

to a "becoming legendary Slow Food Hawaii Potluck" Picnic in the Park
on October 28th, there will be all sorts of food happenings around the
island.  And, it will all be focused on Eat Hawaii Island Grown.

We want all of you to be clued in so that you can plan, plant, mark
calendars, and most importantly - Eat Hawaii Island Grown foods during
October.  The most intriguing challenge is to gear food consumption to
island grown foods.  Restaurants, markets, and schools will be joining
together with chefs, nutritionists, producers and consumers to
discover and re-discover how to Eat Hawaii Island Grown foods.

Be on the watch for the Food Summit Symposium and Haumea's garden on
the first October weekend, film festivals,  Kona Brewing Company's
dinner / fundraiser for Slow Food Hawaii, Farmer's Market specials,
restaurant specials featured throughout the island ---- and our
awesome brochure.  It will list recipes, producers, events and lots of
yummy info.  Get it at your local market at the end of September.

Visit the Slow Food website www.slowfoodhawaii.org - Ben's posting all
kinds of info as it comes in.  Questions?  Want to help?  Need help?
Let us know.  As we get closer, we'll tell the next exciting event....

Eat well always,
Jan
