Hello SJAA Members and Friends,

This weekend is nearest the full moon, and that means the San Jose Astronomical Association (SJAA) is hosting its monthly general meeting.

On Saturday, 27 April 2013, starting at 7:30PM, there will be social time, where people can show up, mingle, chat, take care of any membership business and generally get settled. At 8PM, the meeting officially starts.

This month, we are pleased to present Dr. Nathalie Cabrol from NASA Ames and the SETI Institute.  Her talk is called "A Decade of Revolution in Astrobiology: How our vision of habitability and life potential in the Solar System has changed".  Biology, astronomy, physics. This is one of those intersections among various sciences that I often talk about. Easy to do, and keeps it interesting, that's what it's all about.

Everyone is welcome to this free event and directions to the hall at Houge Park are available on the SJAA website.

Preceding the meeting will be the monthly Board of Directors meeting, beginning at 6PM at the same place. All are invited, no, *encouraged* to attend.  There is a full agenda and the board would love to have guests participate and provide input to anything and everything. Seriously. Please don't be shy, just show up, come on in and take a seat and participate.

Just for fun:
If you haven't been following Canadian Space Agency's Chris Hadfield during his stay on the ISS, you've been missing out. He's been tweeting lots of interesting pictures of Earth over the past several months. And he posted a 3 minute video demonstrating what happens to a waterlogged washcloth if you try to wring it out in microgravity. No spoiler here, you'll have to watch it for yourself, it's cool stuff, watch it to the end.

And finally, I would say to come find me and say Hi if you come Saturday, but sadly, I'll have to miss both the board and general meetings. This weekend is our father/daughter campout, and priorities being what they are...

Hope you can make it, and I'll catch you another time, in the dark!
