I'm sure this will find people caught just like me in their own working whirlwinds as we get closer to kick-off for Situation, but I just wanted to invite people's thoughts on a possible development.
The everwilling Lucas Ihlein - if you haven't met him you will, he's guest starring on the saturday forum - has kindly crafted a template for a blog site for Situation. My thoughts are that it could be a great parallel space for interactions/comments/feedback/analysis on the show as it unfolds, and a perfect tool to draw connections to the much broader networks of thinking and activity at play in each of the cities.
There's nothing much to it yet, just a draft, but you can check it out at
(it's hosted by the Squatspace site, which re-doubles the squatting metaphor extra well I think)
The look of it can be jazzed up once we get going.
The first thing I did (I got a bit excited actually) was compile a crazy stream-of-consciousness bunch of links to all my favourite blogs, noteable sites and killer pieces of writing. Obviously there's a massive sydney bias at the minute, so if people are into it, let me know MORE MORE MORE links to the people and projects that make up the bigger picture in your city.
I guess I'm thinking the blog could work well if a handful of people were interested to post to it semi-regularly, to keep it lively and worth visiting, leading up to & throughout the duration of the show.
What do people think? Of course I know that not everyone goes for the online reading and writing, that's fine. And that people are crazy busy (that's me too). But of those who might be interested, maybe let me know & we can work out how to grow it between us.
we're going to see each other soon!
best

ps. is the show still titled with the full networks/collaborations/collectives byline? or just 'Situation' as it is on the website?

Hi, Sounds good. I am really overcommitted at the moment don't think I can
participate in anything more till the shows installed, but it sounds like a
good idea.

hey good question... I just had a quick look at the google group page, and I'm guessing it might be feasible for the administrator (Liz?) to modify if from 'only members can read' to an open access thing. If so, & if agreed, we could include it as a link from the blog... maybe Liz could check this out?
I would be kind of good to have it all in there rather than crossing to another thing, but I'm not sure how you would do that other than copy & pasting it all, which sounds tedious... and the google structure as is is pretty logical.
I've figured out how to register multiple authors, it's really easy, so let me know if you want to muck around on it... and if you want to suggest more links & sites!
