5 Simple Steps to Collecting What You Need For Your Website

The Internet has opened many doors to amazing opportunities to market
yourself and your business. But before you sit down to your computer
or hire a website designer or programmer, it is important to get your
thoughts together on what you want and need for your website. You want
make sure that your website is informative, compelling, and well
thought out.
Here are five steps to get you started to creating a website that will
attract your ideal visitors.

Step One: Take out a piece of paper and draw two lines vertically down
the page making three even columns. Name the first column "Colors,
Images, Graphics." Name the second column "Website Pages." Name the
third column "Important links and keywords."  
Step Two: In the first column, write down the colors that you will use
throughout your website pages. You will want for each page of your
website to look consistent. Also in this column, write out the types
of graphics and images you want to use. These images may include
photos related to your products and services, photos of individuals
who are look like your ideal clients, or any other imagery related to
what you do in your business.
Step Three: In the second column, write a list of the pages that you
feel will be the most important to have on your website. This should
include at least your "home" page where you may choose to have a
welcome message, an "about" page to tell your visitors about you or
your business, and a "contact" page to let your viewers know how and
when they may be able to contact you.
Step Four: In the third column, write a list of links that you will
include on your website. These links may direct visitors to your blog,
article postings, speaking engagements, or whatever else that you want
to share with you viewers. Also in this column, make a list of at
least the top 3 keywords and phrases that your website viewers will
likely use in search engines to find your website. Tip: Be specific!
If you are a personal chef and you use 'personal chef' as one of your
key phrases for search engines, you are likely to be one of 73 million
results!
Step Five: Begin with your home page. You already have the basics to
follow from the three columns. Now, decide what visual elements you
want to include on your home page, along with the list of links that
you want, then begin writing copy rich with the main keywords and
phrases that you wrote in column three. Have fun!
