Hello everyone,

My name is Matthias Samwald and I am new to this Group. I am the main
developer of an ontology framework called 'bio-zen', which uses
established foundational ontologies and metadata standards for
information representation in the domain of life science and health
care. bio-zen uses SIOC for the representation of scientific discourse.

You can get an overview of the recent status of the project here:
http://esw.w3.org/topic/MatthiasSamwald/DOLCE_bio-zen_patient-record_proposal
http://neuroscientific.net/index.php?id=43

These developments will soon be part of the W3C Semantic Web in Health
Care and Life Science Interest Group:
http://www.w3.org/2001/sw/hcls/

If you want to see how SIOC is currently embedded in bio-zen, you can
import
http://neuroscientific.net/bio-zen-plus.owl
into the ontology editor (note that this ontology owl:imports another
ontology).

The SIOC classes are a bit hidden in the hierarchy of the foundational
ontology, most of them are at dol:particular >
dol:spatio-temporal-particular > dol:endurant >
dol:non-physical-endurant. I have made some minor changes, mostly I
have changed some constructs so that the whole ontology is OWL DL, and
I have removed unnecessary inverse properties. Most or all of these
changes should be backwards-compatible with the official version of
SIOC.

I will soon submit a grant application for bio-zen. If anyone is
interested in cooperation, please contact me or reply here.
