Thanks for the help
Don't you have two sets of user objects then and have to manage
sychronising them? Also would that mean someone signs up twice, once
for membership and again to subscribe?
Just an idea but perhaps in the future having a plugin in S&D allow it
to directly use plones membership database for subscription

I did try that months ago as well. Zexp works fine for my small sites
(I have about 50 sites total running on Plone ranging from versions
2.5 through 3.3) with a dozen on the 3.3 instance (which is the
version impacted by this S&D issue), including a few of my large

Already tried that months ago (several times and different ways). Did
clean setup of Plone, and just moved the *.fs files.
But still the lingering traces that prevent me being able to use site
setup to add/remove products for all the sites impacted.

As an alternative, quick win approach, you could move your content to a
"clean" Plone install.

I made the mistake of including S&D in my buildout.cfg several months
ago.
I have been making incremental, very time consuming, painfully slow
progress on getting the remaining pieces of S&D out of my system, but
am stuck again.

Just publicly thanking you for sticking with this, I think we're approaching
a tipping point and I expect the S&D community to grow this year as the UI
and api evolves to support the growing number of users.

After using the subscripition portlet, I reloaded the page and the
e-mail field was already filled with my last entry.
I had to go to the source and find the place where it was setting the
value, I changed it to " ='' " and it worked.

Hi Dylan!
S&D doesn't do member subscriptions OOTB. There's subscription events
that'll allow you to make a reference from the subscriber object to
the currently logged in member. (And taking away the View permission
for a specific newsletter will disable it for any anonymous
subscribers.) If you need to extend the information that's asked for

I maybe beding singing and dancing beyond its comfortzone but I have
some open questions I'm attempting to answer to see if S&D will fit.
Basic requirement is a alert system where people subscribe to the
kinds of alerts they want (large lists) and the alerts are manual
created, tagged to which kind they are and then either sent asap or

Bummer. I was aiming for more.
There's no cue without an existing subscriber, IIRC. I suggest you
try and debug a bit around where MessageAssemble looks at the
"use_cue" variable, and find out what's going on. All of this has
pretty good test coverage, even though it's certainly complicated.

A little bit.
One problem I had is that if you type in another mail address than a
subscriber the preview will not be sent, without error message. That
was confusing. But I can send things now, although I'm not entirely
sure why news items never sent and less than a week old doesn't show
up.

IScheduler has a "tick" that's called periodically. "tick" calls
"trigger", which is also in IScheduler, when it's time to send out
messages. E.g. every week "tick" will find out that the time has
come, call "trigger" and set the "triggered_last" time. What's
