Matthew (in the cc list) from Microsoft is interested to join us this month (next Thursday, 29th May)! Anyone with any topics? Or Matthew, would you like to present something? The folks here are game for anything as long as we learn something I guess.

Actually I wanted to do a session on RSpec + Watir but I'm out-of-
country next Thurs 29 May. Maybe the next one round.

You just mentioned "PHP" & "Windows" in the same post. This won't go well with Rubyists :)

Let me see if we can organize an Iron Ruby session, typically how long is each session?

Ill see if anyone from DPE can present on this, if not Ill see if I can get up to speed on it myself.

Other things we have been working on have been PHP on Windows Server 2008, if that would be interesting?

How about a topic on Rails deployment? Issues and problems that come
along with deployment, possible solutions.

Ok folks, Matthew has kindly offered to get the meetup a place this Thursday @ 7pm. And he'll need attendees emailing him, so he can have a name list for security clearance.

Not sure. Would you like to cover some techniques you've deployed in Bookjetty's recent revamp? Anyone else?

The venue will be:
Microsoft
1 Marina Boulevard
#22-01 One Marina Boulveard

Hm… it’s pretty much just migration from rails 1.x to 2.x, writing Rspecs, and introducing new features, it can be quite boring though.

Why don't we go with PHP on Windows Server? It's not really what we're
about, but at least the setting will fit the talk;-)

We could even structure so that the second part could be a debate/
discussion of relative merits. . .

Hi Nick,

I wouldn't have enough time to prepare though, I'm planning to build my
first facebook app, it ever gets done, I'll probably can share a little bit
on that may be in July.

For this meet, if there's no speaker/agenda, we may have to give it a miss.

Just a suggestion for the next meet, we may want to consider having a wiki
page. For those who are coming can leave their name. It may be superficial,
but at least we all know how's the response like.

Herry,

i thought it was Herry that offered the PHP/Windows presentation.
Afterwards we could compare it to Rails, maybe. . .And maybe you could
give just a 5 minute impromptu talk on what it's like putting together
a FB app, or on RSpec, or whatever you want! Nothing really
prepared. . .

We wouldn't want to disappoint Ludovic, who is attending for the first
time, would we? And we have the venue. ;-)

poor Herry ... too much pressure :)

Sorry, did not realized that there was no talk planned when I posted ... if we can't do it tomorrow, then I hope I can make it next time ;)

Yeah, poor me, I was just the one that ask are the speakers confirmed. J

I wouldn’t mind to share about Rspec, or stuff that I have done with BookJetty lately,

taken into consideration that it’s informal sharing nothing is prepared, I just need a wi-fi connection.

Since some topics are already covered like Rspec by Douglas, and the others I’d share probably a bit about Ferret, and ar_sendmail, and memcache, which others may have played with, since we have heard it some time ago.

I’m just afraid that it’ll bore the others down, and someone may ask me to compensate for their parking and transport fee.

Facebook wise, Nick, I’ve just started about it, it’s not done yet, that’s why I’m proposing in July, just in case if I can’t finish it by June’s meeting.

So, seems like it’s a very rush decision, to meet or not to meet? I’ll let you all make the call. J

No seriously this sounds good. I would drop by for sure. I'm pretty interested to see how Rails folks write tests considering I've never written tests for my Django apps.

I agree with Harish. Herry, go ahead and bore us with tests! (I'm such
a sloppy coder, tests are the only way I ever get anything working.)
Herry, we promise not to charge you our parking fees, or even do you
any physical harm ;-)

And YOU Ludovic. . .You, being a Brigade newby, were supposed to be
the reason for us to meet this time, so why were you letting Herry off
the hook so easily?

So it's agreed that we'll meet? Is Microsoft Matthew in the loop?

We need to make sure he knows. That building has very strict security. They won't even let you go up to that floor unless Microsoft notified the security about the event.
