Hey guys!

Seems like theres an active topic on improving the interaction in the
Singapore Rubysphere! Along the same direction why not we formalize
this: why not have our own website, forum, blog etc, through which we
could share, learn and build the knowledge. Something like a Ruby on
Rails portal for Singapore, through which we could organize fun events
too! :). Thats exactly what we (me and Yang Bin) wanted to do about an
year ago...

Only later did we discover this active group! By then the domain
"rb.sg" had been purchased and some initial work had been done.

u could check it out at rb.sg, right now it runs Uger (
http://oaktop.com/wiki/index.php?page=Uger ), u could learn more about
that by following the links. Basically it has the basic bare bones
stuff for an User Group. And the plan is to have Typo setup at
Blog.rb.sg

Right now the code is being managed through 'Devjavu', an online svn
repository service. If you think its a cool initiative and would like
to contribute in building it to what it has to be, Please feel welcome!
All that needs to be done is get added to the svn list, fire up Eclipse
or Radrails or text mate, sync up with the svn at (
http://svn.devjavu.com/rbdotsg) and get bangin! Uger and Typo are
already up there. Am sure theres a great deal to learn about ruby n
rails from these projects.

Dun need to worry about the Hosting n stuff. It will be taken care of
by Yang Bin from Fragnetics (http://fragnetics.com). In fact they are
in the process of comin up with a more fomal Rails hostin plan. In case
you have any thoughts or suggestion on what you think is crucial for
the optimal Rails hostin, or any complains with the current ones which
has been buggin you, please feel free to put it here, so that we can
help them to serve us Best!

Do join us on our next meetup (which is tentatively unscheduled)

Local Rails hosting? Rings a bell (somewhere in this mailinglist's archive)

Cheers

Hi guys

BtW , I got a question , off-topic one so pardon me guys. I am
wondering how was rb.sg bought ? From my understanding , for .sg
domains with 2 characters such as rb , you need to give your IC to
show your name is so and so to buy ?? That was what I saw last time..
has it been changed ??

Thanks
billy

Thanks for the reply ... and yes there is such special restrictions if
the two letter words match the country code .. like sg , my , us , and
so on ... my name is billy am so i tried to buy billy am but was asked
to give documents .... so i thought all two letter domain names are
restricted .. :P

Hi Guys,

If you are looking for Local Rails hosting, actually my team has got
it setup already.
We had no choice but to immediately set it up for our first CMS
project done in Ruby on Rails because we can't source any in
Singapore.

Our team of 2 are also into Agile Development Methods, AJAX and Web
Standards.
We are on the road to building our web studio with such a vision.
Ever since June 2006 till now, things were kinda rush but still, we
managed.
Hopefully, our website will complete before CNY and from there, we
have a blog on Rails and the useful resources on stuff we are into.

I see you guys are coming up with a meeting. When will it be?
Me and Mech are kinda keen and we love to share and learn more.

Best Regards,
Vernon
